Thomas Sowell On Political Realism

I know right-wingers love to cite Thomas Sowell to justify their regressive ideology, nevertheless, Sowell makes legit points that the leftist would be wise to consider.

Leftists are out of touch with survival-reality and they are ignorant of this point, in denial about it. Leftism is an ideology of denial of its own ungroundedness. When leftist ideals are implemented, they quickly fail, forcing a reversion to the traditional ways, which just work. What the leftist doesn’t understand is that the traditional ways are ugly and stupid, but they exist for good reason: because they work. Capitalism exists because is works. And your leftist ideals don’t exist because they don’t. This is what every leftist is in denial about it. That’s what makes leftism an ideology. If you weren’t ideological your mind would be open enough to see this.

What every leftist is in denial about is that leftism gets Reality fundamentally wrong. You cannot sit in your armchair and moralize to Reality. Reality will laugh at you and then kill you. While you sit and moralize, lives are on the line. The bottom line is: your moralizing doesn’t work because survival does not care, because your morality is your own invention. Human rights is something your mind cooked up. Actually, it’s worse than that. Your mind is not even original enough to have cooked it up, it just conformed to it.
