The Gospel Of Thomas
By Leo Gura - October 11, 2026
The Gospel of Thomas is a non-canonical Gospel which was omitted from the Bible. But it is ancient, going back to at least 200 AD. Unlike all the other Gospels, the Gospel of Thomas doesn’t have any stories, but only the sayings of Jesus. It is a list of 114 of Jesus’ sayings, supposedly. How credible is it? Hard to say. It sounds fairly credible. These are sayings you can’t find in the Bible. It is an interesting read.
Imagine going to Egypt, digging around in a trash heap, and finding a jar containing an entirely unknown Gospel. That’s still possible!
There are some very true saying in Thomas. These are my favorite:

There’s no deep mystery to it. He’s just pointing to the fact that you are God. But it’s so vague and murky that no one will ever get it. Being cryptic and mysterious is not good for students, it is good for aura and fools to worship you.
