MAGA Dad Discovers Racism Is Real

This is both hilarious and indicative of conservative self-deception at large.

Conservatives are in denial that many of them are racist. There is a painful kind of awakening where you realize, “OH!!! Me and my tribe are racists! Of course!!!”

Conservatives have invented an entire sub-culture for denying racism. Why? Precisely because they are racist. It’s comical. But they can’t admit they are racist because being racist has such a negative stigma and they need to see themselves as the good guys. Plenty of conservative political content serves the function of convincing conservatives that they aren’t racist when the truth is that they are.

At least in the past old-school racists were honest and owned their racism. But today’s racists bullshit themselves about not being racist. Conservatives love to whitewash history and minimize the historical ugliness of racism because they need to feel proud of their tribe/race/culture/ethnicity.

Look. If you are racist, just admit it to yourself. That will be progress toward truth. Whatever evil or ugliness lurks within you, just admit it to yourself. It’s okay. That is real development. There is no point in bullshitting yourself. Don’t be a racist and a clown too.
