How Corruption Really Works
By Leo Gura - May 20, 2026
This is what corruption looks like.
Real corruption just looks like friendliness. Friendliness with the Devil. To be the Devil’s laughing buddy. To have beers with the Devil. To go to football games with the Devil. To have your children play with the Devil’s children. That’s real corruption, not conspiracy theories. Real corruption is when you benefit so much from the status quo that you become incapable of questioning it.
Corruption is an unwillingness to question the Devil, to look the other way. All the Devil needs you to do is look the other way while he raids the hen house.
Corruption is not taking bags of money under the table in Washington DC from pedophile elites. Corruption is when you betray what is right and true in order to fit in with your wealthy and famous friends. That’s how corruption really works. It works when wealthy, famous, and powerful people all befriend each other and defend each other against the other 99% from whom they extract their wealth, fame, and power. Corruption is a rationalization of exploitation, abuse, and theft.
All the conspiracy theorizing is just noise, the real way power works is that when the conspiracy theorist becomes rich and famous and gets rich and famous friends, he uses his conspiracy brain and power to defend himself and his friends. And thus society remains enslaved and broken. Joe Rogan is too agreeable and sociable to speak truth to power. If truth was actually being spoken, none of these billionaires would dare to appear on his show. They appear there because they know that truth will not be spoken to power. Truth should terrify billionaires because they are all full of shit. If you are friendly with a billionaire, that’s how you know you aren’t telling them the truth, because you value the friendship over the truth, because if you told them the truth they would no longer be your friend. Billionaires surround themselves with yes-men, which is why being a billionaire is so unhealthy and corrupt.
In order to be a good person, you cannot befriend wealth, status, power, and fame. Wealth, status, power, and fame is always corrupt, it is always based in untruth. The cost of being good is turning your back on that social class. You cannot befriend the top 0.01% and be good. There is no world in which that can work. This is why being good is so difficult and rare. Who is going to say no to wealth, status, power, fame, sex, luxury, celebrity friends, and the fun & easy life? Most people, once they make it to the top, will just rationalize it to themselves and forget anything is wrong — as this example beautifully illustrates. And most of Rogan’s conspiracy-brained audience would do exactly as he did. Which is why conspiracy theories are stupid. The lesson here is this: Conspiracy theorists don’t actually challenge power. How could they? They never cared about truth.
To be good you have stop doing unconscious survival. Conspiracy theories are unconscious survival. So conspiracy theorists cannot be good.
