Gutting FTC & FCC Regulations

Here are two more examples showing how conservatives and Republicans are anti-populist in practice.

The kind of mental gymnastics and bullshit that right-wingers engage in to stop corporate regulation are pathetic.

It’s pure corporatism. The real status quo is neoliberal corporate power, and that’s what right-wingers defend in practice, after all of the rhetoric and fascist bluster.

Of course Dems also serve corporations, but not quite so flagrantly and shamelessly.

Biden and Dems need to get more credit for at least trying to pass these pro-consumer regulations. At least they put up some resistance to corporate overreach.

In a healthy democracy 100s more such consumer protection regulations would be passed, and without obstruction. But instead we have only a handful, and each precious one is obstructed for years, emboldened by right-wing “free market” propaganda.

Under a Trump administration all these regulations and protections would be rolled back. And even the ability to pass future ones would be permanently crippled.

This is what corruption looks like in practice. Each blocked consumer protection puts tens or hundreds of millions of dollars into some rich guy’s pocket. For corporations and right-wingers, consumers are cows to be milked until they die. Your right to fairness is no higher than my right to milk you. When government allows its citizens to be milked by large mindless entities, it has failed.
