Challenging AI Doom

The super-AGI doom narrative is conformity.

I love to see people thinking independently and pushing back on all the Tech Bro AGI hype.

There will not be AGI any time soon. But in order to save face, the Tech Bros will have to bullshit all of us to keep the fantasy alive. It’s an interesting example of rationalist conformity playing out in real time. Many high-IQ academic types buy into it because it plays right into their autistic, sci-fi, nerd biases.

If you get a bunch of sci-fi nerds together, they will form a cult not unlike religion, but they will call it “science”.

Is it rational to act like super-AGI is coming in a few years? Or is this a nerd’s self-deception?
