Althusser Explains Ideology

I was not familiar with Althusser until today. His ideas here dovetail perfectly with Actualized.org. But just to be clear, I am not a Marxist. Marxism itself suffers from all of these problems of ideology. It baffles me how someone can articulate the problems of ideology so well but then go right back to being a Marxist.

Also, I want to stress that it is possible to transcend ideology. That is the aim of our work here. There is Truth beyond ideology.

By the way, Althusser killed his wife by strangulation, but was declared unfit to stand trial on condition of insanity. That’s a hell of a bio for a philosopher. How am I supposed to compete with that?
