Meditation Retreat Recommendations?

8 posts in this topic

What are some of your recommended meditation retreats?

I want to see if I can level up my meditation because I realize that this is my only life, and I want to dive deep into the nature of reality and suffering.

I would love to go to the Himalayan Mountains someday. I am thinking about going to the Himalayan Mountains this Summer, but I am open to it.

Ever since I got heartbroken from my previous relationship, I want to get back into spirituality.

Please share your thoughts on meditation retreats that you found were amazing for your growth. I want to invest in traveling and going to meditation retreats, as well as hiking in the mountains such as the Himalayan Mountains.

Thanks! :)

It is only through consciousness and its cultivation that one’s passions, one’s focus, one’s curiosity, one’s time, and one’s capacity to love can be actualized and lived to the fullest.” - r0ckyreed

Monasteries and various 'special' meditation places suck. I also thought going to meditate to a highly regarded monastery globally - Na Uyana Monastery in Sri Lanka, will help me reach new levels of conssciousness. Nope. It actually sucked. They are glorified spots that in actuality are not conductive to inner peace at all.

If you have an inch for that type of thing then go ahead, try it out, but it's much better to stay where you are and construct a life where you can meditate at your location for 10-16 hours per day and awaken.

There's alot to cover why that's the case and it's 4 am here, so I'm going to sleep, but if you want more info lmk.

Interesting. I had that perspective. Another perspective is that such places can provide structure and environmental exposure.

Your own home can surprisingly make for a great meditation retreat location.

Does anybody have any actual meditation retreat examples. There is value in leaving your distractions and comfort zone.

You are looking for some special meditative place to retreat to, and that is the distraction.

Of course, not everyone has the luxury to do a meditation retreat from their home. I should clarify that I live by myself.

I like Vipassana retreats, because they are free to attend, you get food cooked for you and you can focus fully on meditation. Also, centers are all over the world, so mostly easy to reach.

If you resonate with the technique, the strict timetable and the long sitting, I find it is also a good 'reset' if you were out of spiritual practises for a while.

Here is the Website if you need more info
