Two questions regarding sleep and dreams

53 posts in this topic

1) is there any relationship between sleep ability..and  easiness to drift off quickly into unconsciousness..  and age ? Because  the more I grow up I notice its difficult for me to fall asleep .  Take Babies..they fall sleep in a matter of few minutes after resting their heads on the pillow.  While adults struggle with insomnia and everyone is sleep-deprived . What's the connection here ?

2) is it possible to sleep without dreams completely?  These days I've been very vivid dreams . And i hate vivid dreams because they make me question my entire existence lol.  So how can I have 8 hours of deep sleep without going through the REM phase which induces dreams .? And is that possible?  I had a conversation with Nahm before and he told me he sleeps without dreams since his awakening.

No.  It's purely subjective.  Some suffer with falling asleep and other don't.

No.  You are always imagining and you are always conscious.   There is no such thing as unconsciousness.   If you're not dreaming you're not existing, which of course is impossible.   This whole thing is just one big dream.

Obvious.

I'm wondering why Is that the case ? What is the root cause of insomnia? And how exactly do we fall asleep?  Does it happen gradually  or like an on-off switch (awake-asleep)?

That's tough to pinpoint with science.   But falling asleep I would say is gradual as you slow your mind down - but then like an off switch as you change states of consciousness.   The shift is magic.

True . Its tricky . We can't say that we experience unconsciousness or non-existence because that would still be an experience of something.  So it's a contradiction if we say that .

But we still sleep ya know :D

Yeah.  If we experience unconsciousness that automatically becomes consciousness... we still sleep but maybe you just don't remember your dreams if you wake up and think you don't have them?  You don't remember being your cat either, but that doesn't mean you weren't in another dream.

I've never had trouble falling asleep. I don't and never had a sleeping problem. Then again my diet is fairly decent and i don't engage in too much poison. A little bit here and there but not excessively like a lot of people who refuse to draw the connection between sleep and eating poison. Poison as in 80% of the so-called food on the Supermarket shelves.

Not sure what your diet is like but maybe it's that. We tend to not care about this aspect of our lives as much but it is partially the reason for sleep deprivation amongst other things such as drugs, stress and anxiety. A lot of these foods are laden with chemicals which disrupt the hormones and can cause us to have problems sleeping.

@Someone here  Yes I experience it. Rare dreams. This is from google.

People who smoke a lot of marijuana often report they either don't dream or don't remember their dreams. That's because marijuana can diminish the quality of our REM — rapid eye movement — sleep. That's when our most vivid dreams occur. According to a sleep expert who recently published a review article, Dr.Mar 5, 2021

I think the only problem is when you stop they get really crazy .

Here is a reddit post

That's a key distinction though.  Not dreaming and not remembering.  You can say there is no difference but there is and that is very vital.  Notice that.  To say you don't dream is to say that unconsciousness exists.   But there is only existence itself.

I stay up late at night watching Leo's videos or Netflix or porno or whatever while smoking Two packs of cigarettes.  I also drink too much tea, coffee, nescafe and energy drinks .

I feel like my body is attached to consiousness. I don't want to fall asleep and be unconscious.  It's like a small version of death .do you feel me ?

You cannot sleep 8hrs without going through the REM stage. REM stage is very important for sleep as it's in this stage where all the construction for repair begins.

Why are you surprised you have insomnia. 2pks in one night? Geesh, plus coffee, Nescafe and energy "heart attack waiting to happen" drinks. No wonder you suffer from anxiety, and you don't have to tell me you do because you cannot not have anxiety with this recipe. Why do you drink energy drinks at night, anyway before bed. What, your death is taking too long, you have to speed it up.

@Princess Arabia he is one woke motherfucker...

He told me that since his awakening experience..he NEVER dreamt in his sleep again . Because his mind is completely empty . He basically has no internal monologue..monkey mind..or subconscious mind.

He's not.  You have fallen into deception.  He's not even enlightened.

Not promoting smoking as it's best to quit; but if they have Natural American Spirits in your country you're better off smoking those as they are less toxic. I doubt it though, as they are made here in the US.
