Retreating into Yourself is the Key to Dissolving Detachments

The reason for your attachments is because you think you need something, whether emotionally, physically, mentally, socially, or in any other way.

You can't convince or tell yourself that you don't need something, because that's the mental level, you need to go deeper.

You have to go without it, for extended periods of time, but whatever you go into, will become another attachment, so what's the solution? get attached to yourself, but not your ego, your *true self*, retreat into it.

Solitude. Meditation. Pravastha. Just being

What do you guys think? try to take an opposite standpoint and let's hopefully have a healthy discussion

I would say you don't even need "thinking" or consciously believing something -- we're just creatures of habit, meatsack robots if you will.  It's autopilot living if you will.

Yes, it's the conscious mind level, which is just bullshit anyway.

The true self is the balancing act between the conscious and unconscious mind, the ego and the shadow.

You want to be 50/50 with that; if you're much above let's say 65/35, you're probably in really bad shape as a person.

It's a function of choosing (not consciously, but by virtue of innate and developmental factors) one end of a polarity over another.

This is how the ego is formed.

None of this is a conscious choice, because the ego is formed in childhood.  It's just a response to one's environment with one's resources.
