Sigmund Freud actually believed that sex is the essence of everything. That what we are in root are basically sexual horny machines. That sex is the force of life ..That sex controls and directs everything you do in your life . A man thinks about his dick all day everyday. A woman thinks about her 
Clitoris all day everyday .

Even dreams ..If you see any linear straight object it represents craving for a penis ..like a cigarette..if you see a circle it represents vagaina etc 

The guy was obsessed with sex and his whole psychology was based on sex .

What do you guys make of his work ?anyone here have studied his work ?

Sex is more fundamental to reality than you think. If the purpose of the Universe is Love and Creation, then you can see that all spirituality is essentially about having sex with reality. The issue is that Freud’s notion of sex is too shallow. Instead of focusing on having sex with a woman, focus instead on letting the Universe penetrate you with Absolute Love. Reproduction is the essence of life. Reproduction is creation, connection, and love.

This is a bit of a caricature and only applies to his early works. 

He would eventually arrive at Eros (Love/Creation/Unity) and Thanatos („The Death Drive“) as the most fundamental drives.

Interestingly, for a good part of the 20th Century, only „Beyond the Pleasure Principle“ was translated to French, so most of the famous Post-Freudian philosophy is way more concerned with Eros and Thanatos than with sexual desire— which is mostly a cliché in the US.
