I don't have religious trauma myself but I've seen online many do, and some say it's because of all the fearmongering that was instilled in them about who God is and what he'll do to you if you don't obey and or fear him.

BTW, everything is a projection. Thats what we are, projecting machines.

Ah, yes. Just like a movie projector. Even if I were to punch the screen, the hole movie would still be playing. Even if the whole movie theater burned down, there would still be other copies of the same movie. Even if there weren’t any other copies of that movie, let’s all drive to another movie theater and see a new movie.

I fear God because I know that any deviation from the truth will result in suffering and I prefer to avoid it if possible. suffering in the sense of distancing myself from myself and entering alienated states

Better off going slowly, maturely and consciously.

Awakening to God done properly is the highest beauty imaginable. 
 

But, it’s work. It’s not easy. There should be healthy caution, healthy fear. 
 

But, you need not fear God. Fear your own lack of intelligence and consciousness.

Also, do your due diligence and decide what you want.

God, Awakening etc isn’t for everyone. 

I’ve paid the price in the past for my own foolishness, desperate desire to know, to understand, to awaken. 
 

I’ve burned in the fire of my newbie  fantasy

I don't doubt that your path is correct and your evolution is real, but maybe you should empty your mind of acquired ideas, they are obstacles. the mind must be completely empty.

There's a reason that he says this people. The YOU he refers to is the ego, and the ego very intelligently co-opts ownership over awareness, over consciousness, and as a result sometimes you have to speak the way he does. But make no mistake God is also the ego, what do you think constructed the ego? God created the ego, and its God that will have to awaken from its slumber that it is not the ego.

The problem? God is the greatest actor, the greatest performer, the greatest creator of all time. When God plays pretend, it completely fools itself. How? Because of the power of love. God loves its performance so much it takes it very seriously and is completely bought in, and this is what we call your life. 

One exercise you can do to deconstruct is to see your ego as an artificial intelligence that is masking the authentic intelligence that lurks within. After all God is pure authenticity.

YOU cannot be GOD because the finite cannot be the infinite.

What you can do, is realize that the deeper you're willing to let go of yourself, of this YOU character... the more of GOD there will be.
