When you begin developing a self reflective, contemplative life style you must be willing to brave the pain of:

1. Shame

2. Guilt

3. Embarrassment

These are healthy emotions when felt and dealt with consciously. Prior to contemplation we live in such a way full of blind spots, assumptions, bad habits, ignorance, wrong thinking, traps which we had not noticed.

Upon realization of these apparent short comings it’s only natural to feel negative emotions. These emotions are part of your inherent intelligence and should be dealt with in a self compassionate and mindful way.

Do not let these emotions limit you, do not let realizing short comings limit you. Push through, go at a pace, take breaks if you need but keep developing your awareness.

Develop mastery.
Develop powerful systems for living.

Have a refresh rate with you models of reality and systems for living and update them on a regular basis.

Contemplation, reflection, correction, and embodied improvement is the process of maturity and mastery.

Take seriously the development of your common place book.

Develop meaningful pages, collections, lists, resources, contemplations, touch stones, collections, link trees, etc

Develop the joy of reading your notes, reviewing collections, and pruning/ organizing the commonplace book.

Oh, oh deep water, black and cold like the night
I stand with arms wide open,
I've run a twisted line
I'm a stranger in the eyes of the Maker

I could not see for the fog in my eyes
I could not feel for the fear in my life
And from across the great divide, In the distance I saw a light
Jean Baptiste's walking to me with the Maker

My body is bent and broken by long and dangerous sleep
I can't work the fields of Abraham and turn my head away
I'm not a stranger in the hands of the Maker

Brother John, have you seen the homeless daughters
Standing there with broken wings
I have seen the flaming swords
There over east of Eden

Burning in the eyes of the Maker
Burning in the eyes of the Maker
Burning in the eyes of the Maker

Oh, river rise from your sleep

And I will not,
Grow tired,
Of crayon stars and fire.

The sunlight,
Has punctured tiny holes,
Of light.

I closed my eyes,
I held my breath,
I prayed for life,
And gasped for oxygen,
It wasn't there.

I couldn't see,
I prayed for light,
To scare the shadow out of me,
I couldn't sleep.

——A song of my youth

Brian Johnson just shared this on YouTube. I thought it was funny. Of course, it doesn’t explain all illness or lack of health. But, for many people I think this is true.

It’s true if we don’t set the intention to develop a system of healthy habits in Mind, Body, Spirit that we will needlessly suffer.

We suffer more than just from the potential for disease. But, because we don’t address our minds we think toxic low quality thoughts. Because we don’t address our mental models we have largely dysfunctional mental models. Our thoughts and mental models are largely grossly inaccurate/ partial interpretation of what is taking this. This can affect many areas of your life to how you feel daily, what you think of yourself and others and how you relate to your overall relation to each area of your life. I think as well that our thoughts play a key role in our mental health or lack thereof.

Unless we develop a system of habits to address our thinking from various levels we will forever be trapped in thoughts of illness, negative emotions, thinking negatively about self, a thing, an event, etc separation, arbitrary thinking, limited thinking, thinking that is unaware of the principles of effective interaction , and a misunderstanding of reality in deep fundamental ways that are impossible without addressing thought largely as a construct.

Thought is a construct of our minds but because we are so caught in this construction so deeply we forget that it is a construct. More than just words, the mental maps, models, levels and capacity for deep abstraction on multiple levels are your thoughts in part.

I digress,

We want to eat well, exercise well, sleep well, have good sex, enjoy exercise, love myself , live in divine balance, etc,

This is the essence of life. Live healthily.

I am not trying to be perfect I am trying to be well.
