Counter-intuitive?

3 posts in this topic

Many advices are counter-intuitive and are solid advices that helps us grow.

On the other hand, there is advice of listen to your intuition, get in touch with your intuition.

English is not my first language.

Does "counter-intuitive" in this sense means "oposite of what intuition is telling"?

When people say counter-intuitive do they speak about society-influenced notion of intuition?

Should we start differentiating between intuition influenced by society's teachings and Intuition that is unique to every human?

Ironically, what your intuition will usually tell you is counter intuitive.

Counter intuitive actually is not a good word. Counter reasoning might be a better word.

@Morten When Leo talks about advice that is counter-intuitive, he is usually talking about advice that sounds opposite of what makes sense....to your unhealthy mind.

Have you ever heard people say, "Eat what you crave because your body is telling you that you need it"?

What great advice, if you are super healthy. If you are unhealthy, that's the worst advice ever. You are going to crave garbage because you are full of garbage, and the body is trying to maintain homeostasis. You are better off eating something you don't crave.

When the mind is healthy, you can let your intuition take the wheel. When it is full of garbage, your intuition is corrupted and you are better off doing what sounds "counter-intuitive."
