Have you seen the netflix movie that's just come out about the cyber attack? In 2024 there is predicted that there is a 10% chance of the entire internet being wiped out for weeks or months on end because it will be the year with the highest solar flare activity in a decade. Imagine what that would do. Our world as we know it would collapse. Guess these guys are preparing for something like that.

@LoneWonderer 2024 also seems to be the year humanity becomes concious of aliens for the first time (at least those are the predictions of David Grush) so who knows, truly we live in a weird reality.

If you have $100b, why not build a bunker costing 0.1% of your net worth? Maybe you'll need it, maybe you won't. For 0.1% of your net worth you can drastically increase the chances of your survival in a worst case scenario. To me it seems like a pretty logical choice even if you don't know for sure that something bad is about to go down.

It's kind of like how wealthy companies come up with extremely rigorous backup schemes and doomsday protocols even though chances are they won't need them. It's a relatively small investment towards something that's relatively unlikely to happen, but if it does happen you'll be fucking glad you spent that (relative to your worth) small amount of money.

To put that in perspective, $100 million of your net worth if your net worth is $100 billion is roughly the equivalent investment of the median US person buying a dinner for two at a mid range restaurant.
