What if nobody knew how cars worked?

Imagine if cars just existed like they do today but nobody knew how they worked. People would try to take them apart but we just couldn't figure it out. They would seem so mysterious but useful at the same time. 

That's exactly the predicament we are in right now with consciousness, the brain, and the entire universe!

Still, we would be able to figure it out to some extent, simply by observing it, for eg, observing some gears moving here and there producing some kind of motion and relating them together. We still don't know the smaller aspects of how a car works, even if we assume we are it's creator, as we are just using big building blocks to construct something bigger.

Pretty much. We are still in the pre historic area in terms of how to tune our body right to be in armony with reality

This " If " questions are the worst categorie of questions ever. You can spin "ifs" forever. Or you just look at what is. Cars are and people work with them.

Replace "car" with "human body" and you have an actual scenario.
