Had Ethiopian this weekend, Turkish the one before that, Lebanese one before that, Vietnamese one before that, French the one before that, Indian this weekend,... 🤔🤔  all in the same city, all authentic family owned friendly restaurants.

They did not only mastered it,they saw the limitations and transcended rationality, logic and intellect and also cultural learned morality to a higher force (the instinct, unconsciousness, evolution force, the raw natural power). Hitler wanted the Nazis to be lead by this force, which is far more powerful than the intellect. Which makes them some kind of not human anymore. Nietzsche would call them super humans.

I don't think this is true.

If they were beyond this they would not chose to do genocide.

Maybe they were a mix of pre-rational and rational.

Why would they not chose genocide. If you are beyond the intellect and rational mind such things can happen

Maybe you're mixing falling into unconsciousness with going beyond it towards consciousness.

Instinct, unconsciousness and evolution aren't higher than intelligence, consciousness and enlightenment. Instinct, unconsciousness and evolution are the base - intelligence, consciousness and enlightenment are the height of human potential. Someone who is conscious would be aware of taking another life unjustly, especially at a mass scale and systematically.

Like what I wrote earlier in this thread:

Hitler took Nietzche's concept of the superman (ubermensch) and perverted it. It takes a level of wisdom and consciousness to understand the same level of wisdom and consciousness. Hitler became a false prophet of Nietzche's philosophy and not only misinterpreted it but acted upon that interpretation to create the atrocity he did.

When Nietzsche talks of the will to power it doesn't mean will to dominate and win the survival of the fittest - to be absolutely darwinian. Yes, its intoxicating, grand and stroked the ego - but this is the same myth and archetype of the Hero which other cultures feel affinity to. It's just not done at the expense of others.

Power isn't a problem, its the misuse of it that is. Power in the service of lower forces wreak inhumane atrocity.

This thread needs some serious moderation.

Nietzsche would’ve thrown up in his mouth, had he known how badly misappropriated his thought got by some German supremacist cult — he would’ve called them „Untermenschen“ (sub-human), if anything.

Back in his days he strongly condemned antisemitism and the raging glorification of Germany (as embodied in Richard Wagner and Nietzsche’s sister).

„Is Wagner a human being at all? Is he not rather a disease? He contaminates everything he touches - he has made music sick.“

Edited by Nilsi

“Did you ever say Yes to a single joy? O my friends, then you said Yes to all woe as well. All things are chained and entwined together, all things are in love; if ever you wanted one moment twice, if ever you said: ‘You please me, happiness! Abide, moment!’ then you wanted everything to return!” - Friedrich Nietzsche

The nazis took a part of Nietzsches Work. Nietzsche saw in jews the potential for super human more than Germans at his time.

But the definition of a super human stays (transcending the intellect and tapping into raw natural unconsciousness and instinct) and that's exactly what the nazis did. So Nietzsche would see nazis as super humans.

What the hell are you talking about?

I won't even bother engaging with this intellectual diarrhea.

It is not beyond then, it is before rationality.

@Nilsi The nazis for sure misused Nietzsches work and used to justify their crimes. Nevertheless there are parts of super human like leaving traditional morality away and creating your own morality which can be attributed to the nazis. But as a collective entity and not on a individual level. A Nazi adopted the collective morality

I recently saw a series of videos from a philosopher who explained that Hitler did not particularly like Nietzche and that his favorite philosopher was Schopenhauer.
It makes more sense, Nazism is based on slave morality.
Nietzche was a liberal genius.

I think Hitler did not like him because Nietzsche spoke not good about  Germans, he disliked antisemitism and also saw in Jews more potential for super human

Nietzsche had a lot of respect for the Old Testament and it's this he refers back to when talking about "Jews."

Your framing makes it sound like Nietzsche was some wacky racial essentialist, which he clearly was not.

It's precisely this shallow reading of Nietzsche that Nazi propagandists used to justify some of their outlandish ideas.

First time I'm hearing this, but I could see it.

Hitler was basically the OG doomer soy boy: following a strict vegetarian diet (perhaps inspired by Schopenhauers ideas about Samsara and the cruelty of life); emphasizing the importance of compassion (albeit in a very distorted way); and escaping into idealist fantasies of universal brotherhood.

It's amazing how people will read Proto-Nazism into Nietzsche, given the actual philosophical content of Nazi ideology.

Nazism is essentially just a perverted synthesis of Eastern Esotericism and German Idealism under the Pan-German mythological framework laid out by Richard Wagner (who was also greatly influenced by Schopenhauer).
