Leo would you still start with marketing

I’m planning to move back with my parents for a year to save money and start a business.

my plan is to get a full time job then do 4 hours a day of building a project when I get home, and socialise with my hometown friends on the weekend.

Will do one hour of my LP in the morning. 
 

 

I had a tiny bit of success this year doing freelance marketing, and I could see the time spent to amount paid was very worth it. Also love working on my own terms. Was wondering @Leo Gura if you were escaping wags slavery again would you still start with marketing, or were you on time with that trend, or did you want to develop marketing skills to apply to your video game business? People talk about building Ai chat bit businesses, it seems to be worth it to genuinely be on time to a trend.

Marketing and sales are timeless skills which will always have value. Specific marketing and sales exploits change and become obsolete, but the general principles are timeless and useful to many different kinds of businesses.

How can any aspiring entrepreneur successfully start a new business when there are just way too many huge corporations and monopolies out there that will easily takeover or outcompete any small business?

Also, don't you have to have a lot of name recognition or be uniquely gifted at something or have a tremendous amount of luck in order to even have a real shot of running a successful business?

Large companies are not even interested in the money your small business would go after. These are totally different markets. Large companies are chasing after billions.

No. You need to be creative and good at building a business.

That's a pretty good piece of statistics there. If you're running a small business you're looking hundreds of thousands and millions of dollars. The big companies are looking for the billions of dollars, they have just gotten so good at business at this point that the millions of dollars look like dimes to them. The billions of dollars they can use to build assets and equity. For a small business millions is the goal really, it's definitely worth putting the goalposts there for the small business I think.

Great plan, but why the full-time job if you're living with your parents?

That would be a serious drain on your energy which seems unnecessary.

Do they charge you an exorbitant amount of rent or something?

Because I’m in my 20s and have high stamina, want to put away a very large amount of savings for 12 months.

Sure but with high stamina and no cost of living you could exponentially grow your business faster with 8 hours more a day… you’d get those savings too without distracting yourself with a job

Marketing is inherent to any business. All firms, even charities and not-for-profit organizations, need to figure out who they are serving, what they will serve, and all other facets to get their product to market and compete effectively in the marketplace. 

Figuring out who the target market is, the competitors in one's space, the sie of the market, and what products people want, are essential and vital for any business, from a small local grocery store to a big global/multinational firm.
