Healthy self, is it an oxymoron? If yes, why? If no, what is it?

self IS sickness, all your ills your problems your troubles are due to your sense of self

just repeat: I AM is health is affluence is opulence is intelligence

that's what you are

Self also brings pleasure, joy, happiness, and all the rest of the colors on the 'default' human palette, no? These positive feelings might be fickle and fleeting and pale in comparison with transcendent bliss, but for those who dwell in consensus reality, they're as good as it gets.

pleasure is but a break from misery no? ... why not have the bliss of the real you

Quote

4 All real pleasure comes from doing God's Will. 5 This is because not doing it is a denial of Self. 6 Denial of Self results in illusions, while correction of the error brings release from it. 7 Do not deceive yourself into believing that you can relate in peace to God or to your brothers with anything external. ~ACIM

What would I have left to strive for? Seekers gotta seek. (Until they don't?)

You can be so healthy, and the next day you get hit by a bus.

Get it? You’re making it up!

Means you can also stop ruining your life with pointless ideas such as dying from a car crash or losing your mind.

What makes a healthy person? This is the "hard problem" of psychology. This is the holy grail question. This is the question pschologists admit they don't have a good answer for yet it's the biggest question the field tries to answer.

Someone is who intuitive and in touch with what they want out of life, rather than what other people tell them they should do.

Does the healthy person have a healthy sense of self? (If so, what is it?) Or no sense of self, a la ego-transcending teachings.

I feel like my ideas (hopefully not pointless!) are not ruining my life, they're giving it meaning.

I will have to take your word for it, because it's mostly all theory to me!

A healthy self is one who knows how to see through the deceptions of human life and understands the love that he lacks and that he needs to give as a human, and is completely honest with himself, does not engage in unhealthy narcissistic self-deception, and is able to delve deeper into it's heart.

And be flexible with evolving your ideas.

For example, religion was not pointless and had a lot of meaning for me when I was a child.

As an adult, the religion I was brought up with is pointless and meaningless to how I want to live my life now.

That is key for me. Worldviews are works in progress. They are processes, not Stone Tablets.

yes in the beginning you have to trust someone or something that resonates strongly, whether it be a spiritual person or some spiritual tradition

trust means give it a chance and see if it works for you ... namely study that message but also put it into practice

for me the best way to figure this out is meditation but like i say you have to entrust it to reveal the truth, commit to it and give it your best

meditation is to step outside of the mind running your life for you and letting the beyond enter your presence to speak

you taste your true nature and after that you get more and more acquainted with it

even most spiritual people don't arrive at this destination

but it is everyone's birth-right and sole reason for incarnating here

I'm also drawn to the notion that we are the sense organs of Das Universum (the totality, all-that-is, the ground, God, whatever) and our reason for being here is to do what good sense organs do: Sense! Why? Because the universe wants to experience itself from all possible points of view.

It is a paradox, indeed. Going beyond your comfort zone and exploring new opportunities feels like you’re getting sick and reality is getting worse. However, it’s actually an opening and a test to see if you’re truly committed to expanding yourself despite the appearance of illness.
