Allowing the experience to unfold without needing to control or judge it. Really opens you up to new learning.

The simple law of physics: What goes up must come down and vice versa. In fact, there is no down without up.

The darker the night, the brighter the day that will necessarily follow it.

@Agrande What keeps YOU going through YOUR darkest times is what resonates most with YOU.

It could be your love for your mom. A determined pursuit of truth. A quote from a book You've read which stuck with You. The joy from smelling your favourite flower and liking its colour in that particular moment. Or a simple, spontaneous sliver of hope, a brief thought/vision that things are going to be okay, in spite of how You're feeling now.

Find what YOU find meaning in. Whatever touches YOUR values.

And DO stuff You like. Take your mind off of the pain and do meaningful (for You) things. This will fill You with energy.

It’s funny, but I just keep imagining what 40yo me would think of me now.

If you look at relationship subreddits for example…most of the posts are from 18-26yos. 40yos could rarely ever bother having the same issues as someone who is of that age. They are past all of that stuff.

I’m 26, and I am always amazed at how much I have changed since 24…let alone 21 and 18 etc….oof even 10 years ago! Being 16….🥴

Heartbreaks I had at 22 that I never thought I’d get over are a bleak memory now, turmoil over growing up with an abusive parent is just the past, 2008 financial crisis and losing my home as a kid…abusive relationships at 18…all the past. etc

I suffered from suicidal ideation and depression from ages 10-22. I never truly could say I loved myself. When I imagined myself still getting into the same kinds of abusive relationships and negative depressive thought patterns and still flunking my college classes at the age of 30… I cringed.

22 was long enough, and I put my foot down that I won’t live another year like that.

40 year old me would be so grateful that I started when I did and waited no longer. Self-development takes years and decades…realistically, your whole life. It’s best to start building it now so you can at least genuinely smile then. There will always be struggles either way, might as well learn to develop yourself from them.

Aging and maturing isn’t obviously the whole answer here…there are silly 40+yos out there of course lol. It’s about knowing you’ll get past it because you have before, and life is always more surprising than you expect it to be, so it’s always worth it to keep going and immersing yourself into it.

I remember times that I’ve genuinely been there for someone else when they were also feeling hopeless.

Not trying to change or fix them, but simply allowing them to be.

Be that same supportive friend to yourself.

What gets me through, is recognizing how past challenges are just that, memories, and how I got through what I thought at the time to be devastating and problematic.

Also realizing that the mind is where most problems are born, not necessarily what is actually happening and where they can be dissolved.

Catching myself when the mind is in the past and projecting the future and to be present with what is happening NOW.

The recognition that there is a higher power at play here and all is for the Absolute good and that the Universe is always working in my favor,I just need to trust and get out the way and not listen to the mind.

Most importantly to always remember to BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM no matter what.
