How real Is no fap? What is addiction to porn?

48 posts in this topic

Hi everyone. Please point me out to anything Leo said or wrote about this.

Also feel free to answer yourself.

What even is porn addiction? Because it's an urge, and we also have needs for intimacy and connection.

At what point does it become an addiction considering it dose not make you low energy depressed or hurt your life in any conscious way.

Yes I do have the gut feeling its robbing me of my very best but I want to hear more and learn more.

It's an addiction if you do it so much it starts ruining your life and you cannot moderate yourself.

When you replace other ways of being.

I think addiction is inevitable; we just have to know when we're doing it too much. It's difficult to differentiate the addiction from the actual thing, so don't judge hastily.

Your profile picture is distracting. I can't stop looking at it. What a cutie. Kinda looks like my cat, only mines have more hair.

Porn, video games, and gambling… they all seem innocent on the surface. All three can turn into addictions, although most who engage in those activities won’t become addicted. Nevertheless, the impact of addiction should not be ignored.

Here’s an insightful, and trippy, report about one’s gambling addiction journey. While it’s not porn, the fact remains: addiction leads down a dark and sinister path not only to one’s own life, but their loved ones as well:

I AM itching for the truth

If abstaining from it causes you distress you have an addiction.

Like if you stop consuming fluids you’ll feel terrible. With porn you won’t die but it’s quite common that it can be difficult to stop.

With fapping? Idk don’t do unless you’re actually horny. If it’s a way to spend time, you are probably using it in an unhealthy way.

@Yimpa

I think that it's an embodiment issue. They give you an immediate value that you get stuck repeating in the old ways. I think that people, if they want it or need it, should integrate it into their lives in a more safe, direct, educational, open-minded, honest, and creative way.

@Leo Gura I know you are busy and it’s still not clear. I would really appreciate some more.

Forget spiritually or morally right now. I listen to mantak chia and various masters talking about Yogic sex magic and how we would do well to keep our masculine essence and I would love to hear your perspective because I feel there is truth to it, but it’s hard to separate the Mumbo Jumbo.

Some of these guys here made sense about the distinction between just being horny and addiction so that’s clear now so thanks guys. <3

Pornography is probably one of the worst inventions that humans have  ever invented.

It's so toxic to your mind and completely fuck up your brain and twists your views on women .

it's just demonic energy. It's the fucking devil himself.

my mind is gone to a better place.  I'm elevated ..going out of space . And I'm gone .

The pornography didn't do that to you. The pornography just showed you what was already there.

We have quite a bit of evidence now porn is bad for you. Not really for fapping.

Rather than seeking external solutions, consider embarking on a three-month journey without engaging in pornography or ejaculation and observe the transformative impact on your mind. Conduct your own personal experiment to discern what truly works for you.

Throughout this period, pay close attention to the dynamics of your mind. Instead of succumbing to sexual urges and casting them in a negative light, adopt a mindful approach. Take the time to appreciate the intrinsic beauty of this energy and acknowledge its existence. Rather than instantly seeking ways to release this energy, such as through ejaculation, try sitting with it and observing its potency.

It's important to recognize that the difficulty in resisting these urges is indicative of the power they hold. Stay grounded in your state of being and resist allowing primal instincts to exert full control over you. By approaching this with mindfulness and self-awareness, you may discover a more empowered and balanced relationship with your own sexuality.

The main benefit of abstaining is the time you save, which is also why a genuine porn addiction is problematic. It eats up all your time at the expense of everything else you hold valuable. But if you have a genuine addiction it is better to tackle that in the context of therapy rather than just treat the symptom.

I think people ascribe too much profoundness to simple abstinence and demonize porn. Nofap is not a proven self-help method in of itself, meanwhile there are dozens of simple and straightforward and obvious things that are proven to improve your life, like working out, cleaning your diet, socializing more, etc.

In my personal experience, I find that I masturbate a lot less when I got things I want to do. Maybe you are just bored?

I have never been opposed to porn or jerking off. I've also never had a problem with it. It can be done in moderation in a healthy way. But many people here seem to have problems with it. It's gonna vary from person to person.

People think there is a link to jerking off too much and not being able to get sex organically with women

it could be, as for everything else, like sex, tv, food ... we can use jerking off to avoid certain feelings too.
