Alan Watts and Terence McKenna weren't that awake ?

This might seem like blasphemy for some, make no mistake I do very much appreciate their talks

But did Watts realized solipsism, did McKenna even realized immateriality ?

Watts definitely implies solipsism in many of his talks related to life being a dream and the taboo against knowing who you are.

They were "awake" to the extent to which they were free from such dogmas. Which at least in the case of Alan Watts seems to have been the case.

As you can see on this forum people can come up with elaborate belief systems about parallel dreams and what not

Many things he said make me think he wasn't a solipsist

You are a selfless LACK OF APPEARANCE, that CONSTRUCTS AN APPEARANCE. But that appearance can disappear and reappear and we call that change, we call it time, we call it space, we call it distance, we call distinctness, we call it other. But notice...this appearance, is a SELF. A SELF IS A CONSTRUCTION!!!

So if you want to know the TRUTH OF THE CONSTRUCTION. Just deconstruct the construction!!!! No point in playing these mind games!!! No point in creating needless complexity!!! The truth of what you are is a BLANK!!!! A selfless awareness....then that means there is NO OTHER, and everything you have ever perceived was JUST AN APPEARANCE, A MIRAGE, AN ILLUSION, IMAGINARY.

Everything that appears....appears out of a lack of appearance/void/no-thing, non-sense (can't be sensed because there is nothing to sense). That is what you are, and what arises...is made of that. So nonexistence, arises/creates existence. And thus everything is solved.

I listen to Alan Watts a lot to this day and the more I listen to him, the more I think he was far more awake than many people realize.

Terence for sure had still a lot of materiality and external world left.

As for Watts I genuinely don't know because many teachers seem to kind of water down their message especially around solipsism to not freak out their audiences.

It isn’t that there’s only one Self in the sense that is taught in a philosophy called solipsism. [...]

I’d like to see a congress of solipsists arguing as to which one of them is really there.

It's likely they did. Of course, using Leo's definition of awakening, they aren't awake. However, enlightened? They had mystical experiences? Likely. At least they embraced and embodied what they're teaching, even if it's imperfect, in comparison to Leo whose heavier on tbe conceptual understanding and use of psychedelics.

How I'd love to introduce Alan to the arguing congress of solipsists found on Actualized.org

@Bazooka Jesus @tuku747 I truly love this guy. His lectures "on being God",  "mystical roots of christianity" and "teachings of the Gita" I consider to be the best in the history of Western philosophical thought of 20th century.

Sure. Maybe you're awake like Leo and Peter Ralston. Wait, Ralston was removed from the woke rankings, right? then it's just you and leo.

Definitely, you sound much more awake than Buddha or Ramakrishna. Congrats.

A lot of subjects are taboo. Society speaks more openly about menstruation now or intercourse or homosexuality or police violence over the last 10,000 years and last 100 years. I suspect Terrance McKenna and Allan Watts were censoring themselves. The audience just was not ready for solipsism. We are standing on the shoulders of giants.

Here is another one where he basically says there are no others....without saying it.

Martin ball has talked about Terence McKenna before, cant remember where I heard it but he said that he was utterly deluded and lost in fantasy.

and I can clearly see that now, despite being fascinated by him in my teens.

When you awaken, Alan Watts and Terence McKenna will also awaken. Read between the lines.

It’s all consciousness, baby.
