Books on setting boundaries?

10 posts in this topic

Anyone know any good books that they've used to become better at setting boundaries? By setting boundaries I mean not letting people disrespect you in conversation or manipulate you and take up your time/energy. :)

People are allowed to do all of those things. It’s a matter of how you respond to that which makes all the difference.

@Tboy Read Laws of Human Nature by Robert Greene

You gonna be setting boundaries for the rest of your life. LOL. You don't even control your response. When it is cold do you control your shivers? When something is too hot do you control your reaction to remove your hand? LOL.

Just learn to accept what is happening and realize its temporary. Majority of the events that happen in your life you don't even remember. The shorter your memory the less you suffer the past.

You are a selfless LACK OF APPEARANCE, that CONSTRUCTS AN APPEARANCE. But that appearance can disappear and reappear and we call that change, we call it time, we call it space, we call it distance, we call distinctness, we call it other. But notice...this appearance, is a SELF. A SELF IS A CONSTRUCTION!!!

So if you want to know the TRUTH OF THE CONSTRUCTION. Just deconstruct the construction!!!! No point in playing these mind games!!! No point in creating needless complexity!!! The truth of what you are is a BLANK!!!! A selfless awareness....then that means there is NO OTHER, and everything you have ever perceived was JUST AN APPEARANCE, A MIRAGE, AN ILLUSION, IMAGINARY.

Everything that appears....appears out of a lack of appearance/void/no-thing, non-sense (can't be sensed because there is nothing to sense). That is what you are, and what arises...is made of that. So nonexistence, arises/creates existence. And thus everything is solved.

I'm not sure you understand me, I'm talking about not being a doormat, Leo refers to this in his Gaslighting video.

Radical honesty, but mostly rather than just reading books practice it and pay attention in your experience at what you do and don't. What allows for that problem for you to occur? Maybe instead of acting in an assertive way at the beginning, you wait until it's late or difficult to change the way others respond to your behavior.
