How to apply radical responsibility and radical honesty in one's life ?

11 posts in this topic

It depends on what you want currently. How much effort and energy you put into the details of your life now will determine the outcome. Sometimes we're not clear about the things that make us uncomfortable taking the next step. Sometimes we don't even know what it is that we really want, we just think we do. So I guess we can only feel into our current status and figure out how to reach out and make a difference for ourselves.

@Rishabh R Sit down and contemplate on what stupid behaviours you have been doing. And then choose at least one of them and commit to stop doing it.

This will challenge your honesty and integrity while adding more responsibility.

@HMD Eating junk food , walking back and forth too much/ wasting my time. However, in regard to upcoming events I always have been surprised when I admit to myself that I don't know what will happen in the future.

@ted73104 thank you. Replied to @HMD but didn't wanted to make you seem that I don't care about you by not replying to you.

Come on brother, no need for that. We're all on the same boat and we care for each other deep down.

@Rishabh RNot knowing is to shut your mind off and get to higher states of consciousness. (Not just this of course).

You must learn to use your mind as well. Shutting it off is cool. But also learn to use it effectively.

For instance, you can contemplate what is Truth and what is responsibility. If you have developed your mind’s ability you will be able to get a deep understanding of what these terms denote, and in doing so you will be able to incorporate those  concepts in your life fully.

Start with not knowing, but try to get the best   understanding through contemplating. The understanding should Not  be anything 100% conclusive. Always being open to more insight on the particular concept being contemplated.

And this answers your initial question as well. Understanding these two concepts well (Through contemplation) is a good place to start to apply them in your life.

I can suggest a way that may help with the junk food. Watch a lot of health channels, watch videos of people cooking and eating healthier food. Surround yourself consciously around health topics, read health blogs, magazines, articles etc. and saturate yourself  with this topic and keep doing it even while eating the junk and you will start to just naturally gravitate towards eating healthier.

I'm usually naturally on that path even though I veer off sometimes for whatever reason. It's like my default mode is to eat healthier and the unhealthy stuff comes for whatever reason like cravings or having a sweet-tooth or whatever, but it gets easier to leave the junk behind when I either consciously think about it or tune into naturally healthy stuff and go back to my passion of creating healthy foods and studying nutrition and reading blog posts and watching healthy stuff on YT, because I've noticed since I got into Spirituality, the body has had more cravings and wants to act up and eat more junk and has developed a sweet-tooth that wasn't there before. I don't need any more cravings other than my 2 vices, so I try to not let it get out if hand.

Become aware of your conflicts of interest. Anything you stand to gain from can invariably lead you to harm others and justify it.

Look for WIN-WIN scenarios instead of win-lose. This means putting the interests of those around you before your own.

Now the more resources you have the more resources you can share. So first you would need to become more selfish with your time and money to invest in yourself so you can expand your influence. Then once you do that you can share it with others. So the tricky thing is to be selfish but not in a way that harms others, but to allow yourself to become more selfless only when you are comfortable enough to take those risks.

Understand what motivates your actions. Here is a list that is expansive enough to include every motivation I could think of.

https://www.actualized.org/forum/topic/92858-understanding-ego/

You are a selfless LACK OF APPEARANCE, that CONSTRUCTS AN APPEARANCE. But that appearance can disappear and reappear and we call that change, we call it time, we call it space, we call it distance, we call distinctness, we call it other. But notice...this appearance, is a SELF. A SELF IS A CONSTRUCTION!!!

So if you want to know the TRUTH OF THE CONSTRUCTION. Just deconstruct the construction!!!! No point in playing these mind games!!! No point in creating needless complexity!!! The truth of what you are is a BLANK!!!! A selfless awareness....then that means there is NO OTHER, and everything you have ever perceived was JUST AN APPEARANCE, A MIRAGE, AN ILLUSION, IMAGINARY.

Everything that appears....appears out of a lack of appearance/void/no-thing, non-sense (can't be sensed because there is nothing to sense). That is what you are, and what arises...is made of that. So nonexistence, arises/creates existence. And thus everything is solved.
