What is Genius?

Genius is uniqueness, the problem is the term genius was co-opted by pragmatists and as a result people think that if your genius does not add to humanity's ability to survive then it is not genius. But this is false, under those paradigms what is the point of painting a beautiful sunset? What is the point of studying the biological movements of a butterfly. Sure a creative mind could find a way to turn that into a survival benefit but is it only genius when that benefit is realized? 

This is the problem with rigid thinking, this is why many don't know what to create because they tell themselves if it cannot make a profit or add some technological benefit then it isn't worth doing. This is just human survival nonsense and is similar to what artists had to fight against years ago when school systems debated the utility of putting music and art in school as a class and why usually when a school is short on money the first things to go is art and music. 

You are here to be the most unique version of you that you are. Stop worrying about being accepted, the secret is to go against the grain!! Many people ahead of their time were misunderstood in their time. Hell many were ridiculed and some were institutionalized or killed!!! Don't let the herd bend you to their will, express yourself from the most authentic part of you and create what you wish to create.

Sounds like some sort of emotional reaction on your part.

People can be exceptionally skilful. I know it can be hard not to resent masters but once you pay attention, you realize that you can learn from them. In fact, it is likely the most effective way for you to learn. Being willing to learn from a master can make you feel like a little person, on the other hand, your ability can improve dramatically thanks to them.

Tao...please notice your contradiction. If you ask for someone to be more open...that expresses every detail.

Concise is the opposite of open, concise=brevity which means to be more closed. Notice how you said be more open and be more concise. Also my post has 12 lines. If you think 12 lines is too much detail....I believe the problem is your attention span.

Not necessarily. You seem to ramble on about every little detail you can think of. See if you can get it across in fewer words. Read my first post to you.

I could have simply said: "be concise." I gave it as a demonstration. Being concise is a good practice that requires getting increasingly clear on what you want to get across. Practice communicating without intellectualizing so much. I'm not saying communicate less.

   Now that we have a solid definition of Genius, and similarities and features of genius, we then can argue for or against genius and is or isn't genius. The reason why I offer the definitions of genius because OP has a bad habit of over generalizing words, calling 'everyone's a genius and it takes one to know one.', as if that's useful enough, and slipping in the desire to flatten the hierarchy of words. The reasons why definitions and assigning meanings to a word is important is because those definitions impart useful information from one person to another, just enough to help make sense of what a person is communicating about. For instance, calling everyone a genius perverts and corrodes the inherent meaning of and uniqueness of the word 'genius' to then make it equivalent to 'normal', or to 'mundane' which actually destroys and muddies the word 'genius'. Likewise calling Nikola Tesla a 'genius' is warranted because of his biography, and the reported feats of intellect, visualization powers, and engineering knowledge unparalleled by any other engineer of his time, therefore the usage of the labeling him as a 'genius' is required, but in @Razard86's desire to muddy that word we'd never appreciate how truly a 'genius' Nikola Tesla was.

Infinite intelligence is all the genius you need.  You don't have to be an Albert Einstein in life.  Truth is all that matters.   But you do need enough to start with to even give you that shot.  An ant will never realize it is God.

Generally speaking, I get the sense that you write too much when it could've been expressed succinctly. I'm biased towards concise communication. Anyway, keep contributing to the forum, I appreciate the variety you bring to it.

With certain things it just comes to fhem.  It's a gift.  But no one is a genius in every aspect of being.  Because they are finite.  A genius is also having the humility to turn to someone who may know more in another area where they know less.  In @Danioover9000's definition of genius there was also the word wisdom.

It's relative.   Like anything else.  If you ask science to quantify a genius - they will come up with some crazy statistic.   Like if your IQ is over 145.  But is the test that got there valid or did someone just say it was?  What is valid?  And even if it was, does that make someone with a 144 IQ not a genius?  You see how we have to be very careful here because relativity is at play.
