This is not a coffee substitute, it is it's own thing. Try it, especially if you're trying to cut down or eliminate coffee because of the caffeine. I drink coffee on occasion, so I'm not against it, but I think this is just as good or even better tasting. The cloves is what makes it taste like coffee.

One is without the almond milk, the other is with the milk added.

Just boil cloves (1tbl spoon)whole or ground, and one cinnamon stick or grounded (1tbl spoon) in a small pot with water for approx 10mins. Experiment with the time, less for milder taste, more for stronger taste. Add milk of choice if preferred.

Did you know produce have codes to let you know how they were grown.

The code #4011 is for bananas and stands for conventionally grown with pesticides. #94011 means organically grown and #84011 for genetically modified (GMO).

All produce starting with (9) means it's organically grown and (8) GMO.

Bananas are not in the dirty dozen list, as say strawberries are, because of its skin protective layer, so consuming the conventionally grown ones are not as bad as consuming produce that are not protected by a thick layer of skin as in berries, celery, Spinach (most greens), apples, cherries and all peppers to name a few.

Celery tops are packed with nutrition. They even have more flavor than the stalks. Use them in salads, pesto, soups and stews, or even as a topping for burgers instead of plain 'ole iceberg lettuce.

Make celery salt: Put in dehydrator, oven (20min, turning 1/2 way through or air dry). Dry thoroughly, add a touch of Himalayan or sea salt and blend well in a spice grinder. Add to your seasoning mixes or use as a topping over dishes.

Simple One Pot Meal

Chicken/Potatoes/Chickpeas

To pot, add EVOO and seasoned chicken legs that have been cut in half. Season how you like. Cook approx 10mins. Add halved white potatoes, chopped onion/garlic. Cook 5mins then add Chickpeas and chopped fresh tomatoes. Place in 350 degree oven for 45mins or until Chicken is cooked through.

Variations: Add basil, parsley or cilantro. Substitute sweet potatoes for the white. Use any kind of white beans. Add fresh Spinach, broccoli or mustard greens. Thyme and or oregano are herbs that goes nicely with this. I used dried Italian Seasoning. Complimentary spices are cumin, star anise, fennel.

This is just about to go in the oven. I will add chopped parsley when done.

How to properly make lemon/lime water.

Zest a lemon or lime, in this case, a lime into a cup and add the lime juice. Pour over hot or warm water and stir. Can use a slice of lime for garnish.

The use of this water to start your day is the best pick-me-up, and your body will thank you for it as it has tremendous effects on transforming your health. The zest is not the added bonus, the juice is, as the zest has much more health benefits. It will not get in the way and will kind of melt away in the warm water to balance out the texture. Even without the zest, it is highly beneficial to start your day with lemon or lime water. It helps to cleanse the liver and wakes up your digestive tract amongst other huge benefits. I cannot stress enough what this practice can do for your overall health. Google for more details.

Even if you drink coffee, just drink this before and wait atleast 10mins before the coffee, but this will sustain your energy in a more stabilizing way than coffee can ever do. I never put anything in my body before drinking water in the morning even if it's just plain ole room temperature water, never cold.

Great toothpaste by Dr Bronner. Star Anise flavor. They come in cinnamon, peppermint, spearmint and star anise which is their newest flavor and my favorite next to cinnamon. No fluoride or harmful ingredients.

Flouride is found naturally in certain foods but excess can cause dental flourosis. No need to get extra. This is a current debate even with the pros about the harmful effects of flouride, so I would have to go and dig deep. I'd rather not have it in my toothpaste as I'm probably drinking it in water. One less headache I have to be concerned with.

Excess flouride is not good so I try to limit my intake when I can.

LEMONGRASS

Rich in folic acid, folate, zinc, magnesium, copper, potassium, iron, phosphorous, manganese, calcium, vitamins A,B,C.

Also known as fever grass. It is anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antidepressant, antiseptic, antibacterial, astringent, antifungal, diuretic and anti-aging

Use with caution and consult your physician before use as it can counteract with certain medications.

Here is a lemongrass/mint/ginger tea. Just boil all ingredients in a pot for 10min and steep for 5mins after boiling to let the flavors meld.

THAI COCONUT

Yum Yum!!

Great for electrolytes and hydration.

Lots of benefits; but beware, there are also some disadvantages if too much is consumed on a regular basis as in diarrhea, upset stomach, nausea, vomiting and an irregular heartbeat. Those are short-term.

Long-term effects may lead to increase in potassium levels in the blood which can be dangerous for people with kidney problems. May also interact with drugs taken to lower blood pressure.

*Melissa Hooper* Registered Dietitian & Nutritionist.

Lots of health benefits, though, and is a great substitute for water in smoothies.

I got hard.

Love coconut, fresh as ripe. I recently bought a coconut toothpaste as a change from mint, I brush my teeth just for the taste lol.

Didn't like the ingredients because of the saccharine, fluoride and cellulose gum, but I bet the smell is amazing. Probably has no real coconut in it too just artificially put in to allow for the aroma of coconut. Hey, it beats Colgate and Crest which says on the back in fine print to call poison control if ingested. Toothpaste - if ingested. Ok now.

I think it's still relatively correct, i don't swallow anything.

I should try making my own non-fluoridated toothpaste.

You don't need to actively swallow, it's in your mouth so some are definitely being absorbed.

Coconut Oil, baking soda, and some mint essential oil or whatever flavor could be a good substitute on occasion.
