My 5meo dmt doesn’t work anymore

I am puzzled:

i’ve done the toad 6 times (the venom), in a ceremonial context, so I know very well the effect. 

I bought 1g of 5meodmt about 2 months ago. Opened the little plastic bag, instantly recognized the smell. I tried a baby dose, just to see if it works, using a vapor genie glass pipe. Maybe 5mg: yes, totally worked. 
A month and a half later, tried again, this time no smell, no taste, zero effect. Tried a bigger dose, different pipes, nothing…

 

I thought maybe it went bad, so I ordered some more: received it today: no smell… I haven’t tried to smoke this one yet but I don’t understand what’s going on with my 5meo:

 

Am I doing it wrong? Do I burn it, did I get lucky the first time? Did my batch go bad? Does the smell go away after a few weeks? Why is it so finicky? 
I ordered another 5-6 substances from the same source and everything else is top quality

@Raf  5 mg is a very low dose where you can feel nothing.

 

Have you ever considered before calling 5 meo a bad batch, raising the dose higher? Up to 15 to 20 mg? Then you can say more about that issue

5 meo dmt is even in 10 years still effective

@OBEler I would highly disagree, 5mg is starting to be a serious dose when it comes to freebase

@Raf I am in the exact same position as you bro, I use a GVG (glass vapor genie) and when I first smoked the 5meo freebase shortly after receiving it 1 year ago, it was really really strong! I didn't put that much though (4mg) but still it was super effective to the point I realised I was not ready to die or that my ego was really comfortable like a warm blanket during winter and it's cool to have it you know.. 
I could never recreate this experience even though I slowly worked my way up to even higher doses, it seemed to become ineffective or slightly less effective at least..
I stored it in the plastic bag in a dark place for months then I stored it in a little glass container before trying to re-x (which was not a good idea).
So I don't know if it's the pipe or the method or something else but something is missing for me too even though I had great success vaping nnDMT multiple times in the past with the GVG.

@Lynx can you tell what higher doses you took? 

5 mg vaped is still a low dose for some people 

 I always plug 5 meo dmt. My highest dose was 13 mg. Still, on my 12. th trip 3mg was the strongest ever experienced. I could not explain this. I have over 20 experiences so far

@OBEler Sure, if you mean my higher dose with vaping I think it's around 10mg weighted. I don't always weight it and I probably did more than this sometimes. The reason I don't always weight it is, during my experimentation with 5meodmt, I used to microdose freebase, I would put only a tiny grain or two then vape it. I did this quite often during this time to the point where I would rather trust my gut feeling than my balance, I believe that you instinctively know how much you need for your dose..
That being said, I feel like the 4mg experience I described above was more intense than the 10mg one weirdly enough. 
I'm sure everything was perfect when I vaped the 4mg and not with the 10mg. Something important to notice though is that I waited months before trying 10mg,
there are probably other factors that we are not taking into account because this substance can sometimes feel random

@Lynx well… I’m glad I’m not the only one, but hopefully we figure it out. 
 

i’ve tried up to 15mg, which is huge for synthetic, it would be the equivalent of 130mg of real buffo. 
First and only time it worked was with the vapor genie, then 6 weeks later, the same powder just never worked again: 5, 10, 15, vapor genie, simple glass pipe: nothing, no flavor, zero effect. As if the universe told me to not do it. Really disturbing. Anyway, I now have a new batch. Haven’t tried it yet, because I’m not in the headspace for that, but I will let you know if it works. 
It’s one of the 3 reasons:

1/I keep getting it wrong, burning it, or whatever, so I got really lucky the first time (I doubt it)

2/the 5meo freebase went bad (the chemist who made it said it’s extremely unlikely, he said it can lose scent, but it can’t lose potency)

3/the universe is trying to tell me to not do it. I mean… I’m open minded, but that seems hard to believe too. 
so I’m puzzled. 
 

i’d be happy to send some to someone who is 100% good at it to see if it works for them.

@Raf Quick report, smoking with GVG work, I gave it a try today with the handshake dose then I weighted 10mg and went for 3/4 of that, it was pretty strong actually, the dose did vape correctly and I was kind of surprised by the intensity tbh.

The most difficult part is the racing thought in the begining but all in all it was great, you should give it another try, I will give you a method that I used for a long time with nnDMT and the GVG, with this method I was able to breakthrough with much less substance than other,

You weight your dose then you take the ceramic pad out (the top piece), you return it so that the inside of this piece face up and you slowly heat that thing. It needs to be hot, not burning hot, you want to melt the synthetic 5meo over there so when it's hot, you just drop your freebase in there, it will start melting in the ceramic piece then you put it back, ceramic face down at its place on the pipe.

Before blasting off, you can heat your pipe all around, again not to much. 

Then you are ready to go as usual, you can make the flame touch the ceramic pad for 1 -1.5s then slowly put it back up while still blowing it.

You should be good doing this

Maybe a bad batch.

Freebase is relatively unstable and and will oxidize and lose potency. Also, freebase will react with many kinds of plastics causing degradation and contamination.

wow! So… my new batch work. I just bought it again. It worked extremely well. I had to change my way of doing it. 
For dmt I slowly heat the glass top with a mini torch, indirectly, not hitting the ceramic. Then pull three long slow hits. 
 

totally different method for 5meodmt. I use a normal lighter, and placed it on the ceramic, inhaling strong hits until it started to produce a crazy thick smoke, then I took a huge hit and held it. That got me. 
 

Now I should try my previous batch again, and see it if it works. 
 

Only complaint compare to Buffo: it tastes like burnt plastic. Is it people’s experience too?
