Shampoo for dandruff

15 posts in this topic

What shampoo are you using to stop dandruff?

Is there a difference between shampoos that claim to stop it?

Or is there a way to treat it without shampoo?

Please understand that I'm new to this. Don't judge harshly.

Best shampoo - absense of one. :D

It's been around 5 years since I last used any shampoo or soap.
I was using a soap for around 2-3 months during 2020 when I was scared of the little-flu virus.

Why do you need a shampoo instead of water?

Tea Tree Oil -  Add to shampoo

Apple cider Vinegar (with the Mother) Braggs brand is good.

Dr Bronner's Soap can be used as shampoo. Do not mix this with the vinegar. Not a big problem. It just leaves a film residue.

Coconut Oil (Extra Virgin) Consistent use - add Tea Tree Oil.

Aloe Vera Gel - If possible, use the real plant.

Cut out gluten while trying to cure the dandruff. Also wheat.

Be careful - this dries out your hair if you don't dilute it.

@toasty7718It is very potent. Only need a tiny amount. It's a very good soap though. Very diverse. Use of Coconut oil will help with dryness.

If you had to choose only one of the recommended items I listed, choose the Aloe Vera Gel.

I am recommending natural products. Head and Shoulders has too many chemicals. Messes with the endocrine system and hormones. Lemons are good, though.

I heard the lemon or apple cider vinegar on head is actually not a great long term solution because the acid destroys something or messes with the oil which on the head which is necessary. Not sure if true and too lazy to look it up

I edited my original post because I believe you are right with the vinegar and oil. When I use Dr Bronner's soap as dish detergent and add vinegar to it for sparkle, it does leave a slight residue on the dishes. The vinegar doesn't do that, tho, with regular dish soaps, say like dawn. Thanks for the update. Dr Bronner's has oils in it that coincidence with the vinegar. It still does the job, tho, but without the residue.

Wash your hair with sea water.

Or use a shower-filter.
