What would it look like if it were easy?

6 posts in this topic

Tim Ferris suggests to use this question in some situations. However, I don't comprehand it.

One can always answer to this question this way:

 - What would it look like if it were easy?
 - I'd push a magic button and the result would be delivered to me in 1 second.

Or "I'd think of it and it'd get maretialized in 1 second right here and in the form I desire it".

Easy? Easy.  That's it. It couldn't become any easier.

How is this question supposed to help then? What's the purpose of it? What are the example of the answers to it?

lol youre kind of cheating the question by imagining some impossible magic button. Its meant to be a way of guiding you to the path of least resistance to achieving your goals instead of making things harder than they need to be by overcomplicating it.

For a writer whos facing writers block, making it easy could be just word vomiting and stream of consciousness writing and not caring what comes out.

For a youtuber, it could be having the desire to not do any video editing so they just speak for an hour on a subject they know about and post the result.

For a musician, it could be improvising on their instrument for 15 minutes and seeing if anything cool pops up.

Just boil down your goal to the bare necessities and the minimum viable effort you would need to say you accomplished it

Why can't the journey be equally enjoyable as the "result"? I put it in quote marks cause the "result" is still the journey, it's not like time freezes when you accomplish a goal.

So how would you like to feel, when you accomplish the goal? Then why not feel like that right now?

It kinda does though.

What does it have to do with the question?

It's not about my feelings

Why then not ask the question instead "If it were in its basic form, stripped off all the complications, what would it look like?"
