How to not jeopardize one's career when using psychedelics?

9 posts in this topic

I`m a 3D artist passionate about steampunk, ornamental design, math, and fractals, I often see how everything in nature has perfect proportions, see how every plant is a fractal, and see patterns everywhere. I want to express my fascination with math and nature through video games or motion design. I began being fascinated with math after a few LSD trips

Leo said that psychedelics cost him hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars, because he stopped being interested in materialistic desires. I don't want to lose my motivation before I`m well established in my finances.

If I trip light dosages of LSD like 100ug every 2 weeks or have a DMT trip a few times per year - maybe such a schedule won't make me unmotivated? Or maybe substances like 5Meo-DMT which make you realize your God nature straight away - maybe only such powerful trips could demotivate you? Or maybe I better forget about tripping while I`m still in the stage of building a career?

By the way, how big is the chance that I may damage my brain and lower my cognitive abilities when stuffing myself with different substances?

He just likes to say that. He never was the type to want money for money ‘s sake in the first place. Psychedelics don’t change you into anything besides more if yourself.

Well lsd and DMT won’t damage your brain. Unless you already have a weak grounding in reality and are prone to psychosis.

That said, people who start to lean on psychedelics as their main tool for healing, doing ayahuasca month after month year after year start to become very skewed people with strange unrelatable personalities.
use it for insight, not for healing/therapy

You are on the road. The journey has begun. The dam will break. Gravity will pull you. You will see that money and success are meaningless. It is inevitable. Let go. You have cracked open the door and the universe will soon blow the door off the hinges and your true self will walk through the door. There is no going back. You think you can control the universe. You think you can control a spiritual awakening. Re-evaluate your logic. There is no logic. It is intuitive and emotional. Any substance use will likely push you further into spiritual awakening. Each person is different. Look around at other users like The Beatles, Steve Jobs (unknown usage), Bill Gates (unknown usage), they did ok. You cannot control god or the universe. The cosmos will show you who is in control. The cosmos will get you down on your knees begging for mercy and you will one day laugh at your post and your questions here.

People do join monasteries and become monks or hare Krishnas or ascetics. You may get the calling.

But substances could enhance your creativity. Substances could damage the development of brains up to age 25 or so. Substances could damage anyone's brain beyond 25.

Can you elaborate more on that? What are your sources?

I believe Leo, maybe a real risk we should be aware of. Also there is a lot of value that could be unlocked from psychedelic experiences. everything in life has a risk.

After taking a few LSD trips I didn't feel the desire to achieve any real wealth. I put my work down and focused exclusively on spirituality for many years. Now I'm at the point where I realize that I need to make money and achieve wealth but it's not coming from a place of emptiness or angst. It's coming from a place of peace. The wealth will come when it does, I don't really need it. I guess I'm saying all this to reassure you that things come full circle. Psychedelics may put you off the path to materialistic wealth for a while but as long as you don't become a basement dweller you'll come out alright in the end. It's more about you and your attitude to develop and grow no matter what that counts.

Plenty of artists and creative people use psychedelics to boost their work. So it's possible.

It mostly depends on the kind of person you are. People can have wildly different reactions to psychedelics.

But if you do very serious, deep tripping it will unravel your whole life. You will reach a point of being lost and doubting everything. Which is not good for staying productive, meeting deadlines, and delivering products to paying clients.

Yes, I was also thinking the same.

You would have to google around and use your own judgement. But The Beatles, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Lex Fridman, Alex Grey, Terrance McKenna, Tim Leary, Ram Dass, Andrew Huberman, and Joe Rogan all admit to usage. You have to decide if the usage benefited them or retarded them. Or find interviews or articles where they give their own opinions. I assume many artists and musicians use a lot of drugs so it is hard to tell which drugs help and which drugs hurt. But the consensus seems to be psychedelics help with almost no harm.

Francis Crick claims LSD helped him discover the double helix of DNA. Kary Mullis claims LSD helped him invent DNA PCR. There is a trend in Silicone Valley to microdose to increase creatitivity.

I suppose it is a "strange loop." :)
