Why are you not allowed to donate blood if you have skin issues?

I was looking into donating blood. And it turn out that in my country you are eligible for donating blood if you have skin issues.

I have acne and honestly feel a bit sad and disappointed, especially since I don't get why would my blood be not okay because of it.

are you taking medication for acne control? Antibiotics? Acutane?

@Michael569 no. I know that that's not allowed. But it seems like just having skin issues also excludes you.

From American Red Cross:

Quote

Skin Disease, Rash, Acne

Acceptable as long as the skin over the vein to be used to collect blood is not affected. If the skin disease has become infected, wait until the infection has cleared before donating. Taking antibiotics to control acne does not disqualify you from donating.
