My Thoughts On Depression

5 posts in this topic

Hey guys, today I thought I'd share with you my thoughts on depression and how to get over this bullshit. So:

1. Notice your thoughts. So depression is usually caused by a negative thinking pattern which repeats itself over and over again. What you can do is to pay attention to these thoughts, and ask "Why?". So for example if I think "I am depressed because I can't find my life's purpose" I would ask "Well, Why is this so?" and all types of answers could come like "Because I neglect my true heart calling" or "Because life really doesn't have any purpose". And you go on and on asking "Why" until the negative thought just dissolves and the ego says something like "Okaaay, you got me".

2. Take a moment to return into the past. What was the first time when you got depressed? If you remember contemplate on that. Is there a reason for you feeling that way then and now? What is it?

3. Listen to your soul and stop rationalizing what will make you happy. Visualize who you want to be. Pay attention to your dreams as they could offer solutions to a lot of problems. Read the book "The Big Leap" by Gay Hendricks to find your zone of genius.

3. Listen to your instinct and body needs when it comes to diet. I figured out that diet could help a lot with depression. Frequent reasons for it could be:

a) excess raw food consumption and/or insufficient protein/fat/calorie intake

b) salt restriction - salt clears up the thoughts and grounds you. Some green olives could get you going in the hardest moments.

c) too much protein or fat which "clogs up" the system and leaves you dull, depressed, catatonic.

4. Pay attention to your body. It is a reflexion of your mind, so in a depressive state your breath will be shallow, your head and shoulders will collapse, your back will hump. Take a deep breath from your belly up to your solar plexus and chest gathering all the tension inside and outside you and then exhale, relaxing all your muscles. Savor the feeling of love in your heart area, feel the beauty of the present moment, expanding with love and abundance. Start exercising to "exorcise" your demons, to let go of the past trauma and tension anchored in you body. In the beginning it could be hard so if you don't have energy for exercise, then start eating more food and do deep breathing to recharge.

5. Sun. Allow the sun to "burn" your negative thoughts and set you free and relaxed into reality. It revitalizes your body also.

6. Do some active meditation. (with your body) In my case normal sitting meditation did nothing, but getting into your body and feeling it can do wonders sometimes.

I know it's hard for some of you guys out there and it was also for me to get over that so I hope that I am helpful. Take responsibility! You deserve a great life!

Be careful not to transform this repetitive mental process into more useless thinking

Edited by Vingger

One’s center is not one’s center, it is the center of the whole.

And the ego-center is one’s center.

That is the only difference, but that is a vast difference.-

The biggest cause of mental illnesses is toxicity in body.

i recently heard we are exposed to over 100 000 new chemicals in the last 20 years. that´s pretty fucked upd.

what is mental illness? Mind is a concept and no one has ever been able to show were it locates.

So there is a weird behaviour which is considered as mental illness.

Im sure with proper detox specialist, 80-90% of mental illnesses would be curable in few months.

But about no-one is doing proper detox.

And gut is the place where health is. 80-90% of serotonin is produced in the gut, so fucked up´d gut = depression, anxiety etc.

@Richard AlpertI agree on that one. When I once was on a holiday in Greece breathing fresh air, swimming and eating free-range organic fresh fish, my depression was gone. A diet not accorded to your unique needs, repressed emotions, lack of movement, sleep and goals can also cause it. Man fuck that shit live life unseriously. :D
