Lone Holiday - Any Tips?

6 posts in this topic

Hey guys.

I'm going away for 3 nights by myself next week. I've got a hotel booked in a little town next to a lake and a region of hills.

My plan is to turn my phone off for the duration of the trip, no music, no entertainment, none of my usual hobbies. All I plan to do activity-wise is meditate, contemplate life, perhaps go for a swim or sauna in the hotel in the morning, go for a few walks around the lake. I want to be silent, be still and be present. I'll take a notepad with me for writing down my inspirations.

I'm not really sure why I booked this holiday, I didn't systematically plan it. I just had an urge to one day! First time I will have spent that much time alone maybe in my whole life so it's a little out of my comfort zone. I'm looking forward to it though.

How can I make the most of the holiday? Have you ever been on a lone holiday like this? Share your story.

Thank you9_9

Love the idea. You must have courage to do something like this. I am still dealing with the fear of being alone for the whole weekend. It would be simpler though if I would go elsewhere, I mean visit a new place. I believe your plan sounds wonderful.
Even though I would probably go nuts by noon if I don't really do anything. Or so I think. Swimming, walking, hiking, that's what I would do probably.

@Nahm Cheers for the book hints.

Shrooms I'm only new to so I'm gonna wait until I can take them in a familiar setting. It would be ideal after a whole day of walking and meditation though.

@ElenaO I think it's a good way to make sure there are no distractions so you can do deep inner work in a quiet spot. I am alone for at least 4/5 hours in a waking day usually so I'm kinda used to it in a sad way:D

Wonderful, Rosse. If I were you, I would not stay in the same hotel, but I would rent the same moped or car and drive up and down. I did exactly the same, being in the Dominican Republic, staying in various low-cost hotels through https://planetofhotels.com/en/dominican-republic/juan-dolio. And I was pleased as I rolled all along the coast and saw all the sights. Can also do with your mini travel.
