Avoid Watching media with high level of violence

What is wrong with directors making Movies with high level of violence?

I know that violence happens in reality, but I don't see the point in literally traumatising the spectator for life.

I just saw a movie where it depicted tortures and extreme violence to humans. This energies will be forever imprinted not just in my memory but in my energy system, ill have to do profound healing work for this to be transcended.

carefull with watching this type of things on a usual. This type of 'media' food greatly impacts your energy and sensitivity system. Most people don't end up prisoners on a fascist regime and endure extreme violent treatment, but this directors are making movies to show everyone this shit mass-like.

I´m so pissed right now of what I watched.

Because very few people wants to watch a boring movie. It's too bland. You might as well sleep or do your own stuff! Life is energy!

Watching a movie does not accumulate that much bad karma. Your intentions and thinking can create even more bad karma. The more you try to resist the show, the more memories you accumulated. You might as well go through it and let go.

Learn to love that, too. That doesn’t mean you have to hold onto it, but rather, realize that whatever uncomfortable experience you’re imagining is also your own creation.

Whatever violence you saw in film will never compare to actual live footage of people being flayed and mauled in various ways ("rekt" footage, as they infamously call it). Cartel beheadings, having torture victim's skin entirely torn off while pumped full of drugs to keep them awake and alive, factory malfunctions degloving entire bodies off, all those international CCTV footage of car truck and bus accidents splattering bodies on the street, raw street fights of people heads still getting hammered or limbs broken while unconscious. Count your blessings and hours of innocence if you haven't fallen into those rabbit holes yet, sometimes I wonder if Internet-footage-induced PSTD is a thing ???

That being said, what movie did you watch?

I don't mean karma but just traumatising memories...

Yeah, that is definetely right. It is a projection of myself.

Honestly, when I see this type of what I initially say is 'cruel' stuff, it helps to see that there is only One Self. So basically the beater is also the guy getting beaten up.

I watched one time a guy from a Mexican cartel getting their heart out of their chest while being alive, yeah, that shit is so fucked up.

The movie was Modelo 77 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prison_77 Maybe it was traumatising specially for me because it is written based on real events and from my country (Spain) not so many time ago, so I guess it hits home and feels more real.

It’s also interesting how fear works. As I’ve said in another thread, you can have someone who is deathly afraid of clowns, but another who finds them amusing and a source of joy.

@Javfly33

Isn't it amazing that a group of people have a created a violent movie for you in order give you an experience of it without you being in it.

Also, you can make it more real by imagining that you are in it when watching.

Treat movies as whole universes. Watch them in order to understand everything about them as much as you can.

@Vibes The great thing about movies is that you can watch their pirated versions without getting into serious trouble if you can't afford them or the streaming services don't work in your country, in which case you use a VPN.

Yes!! You can have so many insights about life by watching movies. You can have many insights by doing anything really, just pay attention and have the intention to understand life and things will connect together. A few awakenings help a lot also :D

100% yes

The neurosis you're creating around it is arguably worse than the thing itself.

I think there is a difference between movies and real-life videos depicting violence (and I'm speaking in terms of how I feel when I'm watching them). The context of knowing that it's real or not, understanding the real-life repercussions, and seeing the real emotions involved, is drastically different. Of course, it also depends on how realistic the movie is (e.g. some horror movies are bound to make you feel a certain way). But certainly in a standard action movie, the fight scenes are nothing like an actual fight, and the emotional footprint is more similar to heavy weightlifting than somebody fighting in a fit of rage.

For example, my brother often scrolls through Instagram, and sometimes he shows me these clips from a page called "Hood crimes" (or something like that), and it's usually either somebody getting very hurt or beaten up. I can't watch that shit. It makes me feel very bad. And I think that is exactly why it's interesting to watch for some people. They got off on that feeling. It's morbid curiosity. But then I can watch a beautifully cinematic fight scene from any modern action movie (Mission Impossible - Fallout, the bathroom fight comes to mind), and it's nothing like seeing somebody actually get beaten up.

I’m not into that. Needlessly violent or sexual content is unappealing to me in entertainment.

In general it satisfies the curiosity of people regarding violence and the emotions involved in a physically safe manner. While it leaves a massive impression on your mind, it may or may not be a bad thing depending on the person.

In context of spirituality, violence and morbidity in general can be of use to observe for someone in their path. For some people it's absolutely detrimental to watch such things in their spiritual path but for some others it might aid in understanding. You cannot dismiss the existence of such movies for this reason.

I believe most violent and emotional movies are made to showcase some reality of situation in our world, which is socially important and it's supposed to leave a impression.

You should know what you are getting yourself into before you watch a movie and it takes a few mistakes before you develop that sense.

Your desire to see the violence can create bad karma.  There is a dark and unhealthy part of us that craves to see this.  The movie makers are immoral and in a competitive business and will use any technique that attracts attention.  They use violence because it increases cash flow.  If you do watch the movie, perhaps the most productive thing to do for spiritual development is to observe the part of you that craves to see violence.  Bring it into conscious awareness.

Completely healthy and normal to be able to handle extreme violence and gory situations if needs be. Anyone in their life very likely will encounter at least one of those situations. Seeing it on the monitor is a safe way to give yourself a little taste of that so that you are not disoriented when you have to make a split second survival decision.
