How to get rid bad habits

Just treat it as a bad dream. Wake up from it and stay alert but relaxed at the same time. Staying mindful to be awake will prevent you falling asleep into the bad dream (aka falling back to a bad habit), same can be used to do the opposite too: create dreams you want to fall into. Preferable stay lucid while being at it.

The trick is that many habits we consider good may actually be bad for us. And vice versa.
