Neil deGrasse Tyson is a fool

I don't think Tyson is a narcissist per se. You just have to consider that his whole life purpose is spreading science to the ignorant masses and defending science against attacks from utter fools. So in serving that role he has no reason to think deeply about science.

I don't think so either! He's just stubborn AF, maybe.

Maybe it's the way he talks and monologues, but man he rubs off A LOT of people the wrong way. "Self-absorbed, narcissistic." I just see someone who is confused and stubborn about it (I guess this could maybe describe most of humanity as well, but you get my point, they're confused in an innocent and non-manipulative way, lol).

But then, people like Andrew Tate get the pass from those same people haha. Narcissists are usually good at hiding their narcissism, it gets masked with charisma or sales skills or whatever.

Probably true, and I've consistently seen Neil behave this way, just look at the Joe Rogen highlights and the PBD ones with Neil, you'll see him consistently have this superiority complex with some light narcissism.

I'm not denying it's consistent, I'm saying that I'm not sure if it's indicative of overt narcissism. I think it is genuine, which is why it's consistent, that's how he actually is.

And also, I don't see the superiority complex. That's what I'm saying. I just see someone who is confused and really stubborn about it, and beyond that, someone who likes to interject their ideas a lot. That's about it. If you go look at his interview with Stephen Hawkings, he seems pretty humble there.

Tyson did a good job in the PBD interview defending vaccines and Covid lockdowns. That's his role in society. Not to discuss groundbreaking UFOs and metaphysics.

50% fool.  50% smart.

His biggest blunder is that he doesn't believe in life after death.

Yes, not disputing that he did a good job defending vaccines and Covid lockdowns in general as I mostly agree with him in that, just he was talking down a bit in general. That's fine for a scientist in his role. Just rubs the wrong way.

Perhaps this is just a syntax and semantics issue between me and you?

How could it be a perfect 50% fool 50% smart?

I don't currently know the exact numbers. But roughly 50/50.

It's weird, I went full circle with my opinion of this guy.

At first I loved him!  Eccentric, smart scientist that does not cower in the face of other scientists who tend to not be so extroverted.

Then he got annoying to me, I thought he was ignorant or close minded, stubborn (which he is).  However, a scientists brain much like an engineer: requires concrete evidence and testing of theories.  A lot of non-scientist people start attaching themselves to theories as gospel, when in reality it is just a theory.

Then now, after seeing some interview of him about the Covid vaccine, mandates, etc - I see why he's so iron fisted in his delivery and how he maintains himself in such stubbornness -- too many podcast and interviews love to twist words and definitions of words.  Neil says no.

So now I like him again lol.

@hoodrow trillson That's how it will go with your attitude towards me.

First you will love me

Then after a few years you will hate me.

Then you wise up and love me again.

Then you will see me yelling at someone here and you will hate me again.

But then you will hear me say something profoundly true and you will love me again.

I can take this 2 hour podcast and shrink it into 2 minutes and show the errors of their ways.

Imagine, in the comic book industry context the following roles:

Author/writer.

story outliner.

cover page artist.

pencil sketcher.

inker.

page and panel layout.

letterer.

editor.

Within this context, the scientist/rationalist/physicist, IS EQUIVALENT to the editor role, whereas the philosopher/idealist/visionary being critiqued in that podcast, IS EQUIVALENT to the writer, sketcher or the page cover artist. The roles of the sketcher/page cover artist/writer is to lay the foundation for the coming comic book, whereas the role of the editors, the scientists, is to work with what was founded and established, therefore the roles of scientists and rationalists is mostly A posterior knowledge already constructed, versus philosophers that deeply questioned that actually did the work that these future scientists stand on.

It would be nice to see a Lex Fridman and Curt talk, see how different the two are.

Interestingly enough, I have no beef with you!  I also don't suck you off either, so that maybe helps lmao
