Trying to understand myself?

7 posts in this topic

I have a few things i want to work on where I don’t really understand why I’m like this, for example I seem to be really averse  to meeting new people despite feeling lonely and wanting an irl friend. I also tend to avoid talking with my online friends some times too.

I’m working on stuff with a therapist of course but I’m hoping for some pointers on self discover through contemplation and visualization. And anything else. Idk what to expect or where to begin. I googled it but it was a bunch of personality tests.

If you're avoiding it, in some way it is an unpleasent experience for you. That would be my guess.

Perhaps you're not good at relationships and it causes you stress and tiredness or smth. Or you're afraid of intimacy. Or... there're probably many things that could couse unpleasentness in socializing

Yeah, haha, that's a disease called introversion.

@Leo Gura

Why do you call introversion a disease?

I think that was a joke.

1. It is nothing wrong to not have a need to meet new people if you are trully introverted. Don't compare yourself to others and conclude that you should be more sociable because that is the norm.
2. But, there is a high chance that you actually want to and have such need. Then you should really investigate whether your avoidance actually is not caused by sub-consciouss fear of being judged, fear of not being good enough/fun enough to meet great people and so on. Because in most of these cases it is a problem of self-worth.
