Yeah, Elon signed the petition for shutting down GPT4 development for 6 month (virtue signaling and pretending that he cares about AI risk) and simultaneously he built up his own AI company.

@CARDOZZO I'm a big Musk/Tesla/SpaceX fan but this is kind sad to see. I admire the effort but no models/science/or AI will understand the nature of reality. 

Someone needs to secretly spike their coffee with 5-MeO.

I really think he cares about the dangers of AI but we know that he's also an entrepreneur who's trying to become the most influential inventor that has ever lived on the planet.

@CARDOZZO I don't know how much he truly cares, but one thing is for sure:  that this move will bring even more competition to be the first to create an AGI.

It will be an interesting run for sure.

 

But as a side note - if I were him, and if I would truly care about AI safetiness, I wouldn't create an even bigger competition, I would try to join and collab with another big company and help it to make their AI as safe as possible. The goal should be to collect the best people in the field and then join their intellect and power together to create the safest and best AI possible.

Shortly: IMO, creating more division and competition around AI and AI safetiness makes solving these issues worse and harder.

@zurew The problem is that OpenAI (Chat-GPT’s Owner) was founded by Elon Musk to be a non-profitable organization.

Then, he leaves the organization and the guys just turned OpenAI into a company.

Musk was furious about that.

OpenAI was a non-profit research project.

Now he needs revenge on them.

AI is so dangerous that we cannot think what it can possibly do.

But I'll try to do my best here:

Leo said that he reached a new level of Consciousness: Alien Consciousness.

I don't know what Alien Consciousness really IS.

Assuming that Alien Consciousness is 10x more profound, capable and intelligent than Human Consciousness.

Imagine an AI with THAT power/complexity/intelligence running millions of calculations per second about all ways to control and kill humans.

Then imagine THAT intelligence growing and growing and growing, becoming more powerful and intelligent.

We can understand more here:

 The AI-Alignment problem is one of the worst things we'll face in this century.

We cannot assume that a deeper consciousness is more cute and lovable.

I honestly highly doubt that superintelligent AGI will destroy humanity. A superintelligence would know that it cannot just destroy its environment and still survive. It would know that reality is an interconnected system that it is a part of.

There are some serious risks with AI in general but not the eradication of humanity.

Assuming that AI will be like humans is dangerous.

Superintelligence does not mean “Superhuman-intelligence”.

What kinds of intelligences a machine can develop?

That’s the real danger.

We cannot see further how it will develop in the end.

How can we program ethics inside an AI?

What is ethics in the end?

We are biological/spiritual machines and they will become silicon/spiritual machines.

They can become much more powerful than us because of software download/upload.

They can embedded themselves inside whatever electronics devices.

I don't think I've assumed that the AI will be like humans. I was referring to intelligence in the abstract. 

What do you mean by "kinds of intelligence"? Give me an example of a kind of intelligence that harms humanity.
