Posted March 21, 2017 (edited) I would pick life purpose because it will help you develop yourself to find and attract the right partner and eventually get married and start your own family. A life purpose will eventually support a family. If you add spirituality to life purpose, the sky is the limit. A loved one can't be around forever. This person would want you to do something with your life and be happy/at peace with it. There is work to be done on earth before we move on. You can't help others if you can't help yourself. The conversations between two people (or loved ones) with life purposes is different than those who do not have life purposes. Posted March 21, 2017 None of above, only need food, clothes and shelter, I prefer to live alone without purpose.
Posted March 21, 2017 "Life purpose" is imo one of the biggest ego-traps in "new age". To answer the question: both equally "important". What is Truth?
Posted March 21, 2017 Ohhhh gawd, how and why are the two mutually exclusive ? Last time I knew, Leo never said to choose between the two. He got both and he is doing pretty good in both. Are you trying to choose between salt and sugar. We need to have both. If you're really wanting to know which is more important, then it's like asking which is more important Joy or knowledge Only ONE path is true. Rest is noise. God is beauty, rest is Ugly
Posted March 21, 2017 @Loreena I don't think one has to choose, but I figured it would be fun to ask the hard questions. It's like a fun game of "would you rather?".
Posted March 21, 2017 @username hmmm. In that case I'd go for the first. I can't resist the joy of romance. Only ONE path is true. Rest is noise. God is beauty, rest is Ugly
Posted March 21, 2017 @Toby How is life purpose a New Age construct? As far as I know, it's by no means exclusive to spirituality. What do you see as a trap?
Posted March 21, 2017 Interpersonal life is more important to me. Making new friends and romantic partners specifically. I already have my life purpose, which is cultivating a form of artistic expression. Just need to actually work on it. Frustratingly, life purpose is what should be started on first. Posted March 21, 2017 (edited) I don't know everyone who uses "life purpose" in his/her work, but more often than not it is used like this (I don't know Leo's course or view point on this though): hey, do you feel unfulfilled? That's because you are not living your dreams and your purpose. You just have to follow your passion and as a byproduct you will make good money with it. You might not have found work that really fulfills you, but trust me, it's out there, just follow your dreams. The problem is there might be things that are more aligned to what a specific person is, but the false assumption (aka ego-trap) is that something (external) can fulfill you (and anything that doesn't completely is wrong and not the "life purpose"). It seems very strong even in relatively conscious people. Maybe it's because in the past people were their job and that's still part of the human psyche. Edit: for me this whole life purpose thing was very very strong, maybe even till 3-5 years into my spiritual path. It certainly has been a trap for me in several ways. Posted March 21, 2017 That life purpose thing is hard i think because what is asked of you is to specialize, to put most of your time into one thing that means automatically you can't do something else and without this sacrifice you will not be good enough to compete with the others who do it. Then we live in an information age with also the possibility of endless cheap entertainment and distraction which makes it even harder to make a choice and stick to it. Sometimes i am jealous of a medieval peasant or artisan their small world was much more clear. Maybe the calling/life purpose whatever you want to call it is seeking you instead and all you can do is to solve short term problems which you think need attention that gives you at least a reason to get out of bed early and some meaning to your life and then hope for the best. so i am voting interpersonal for now with the life purpose being some kind of holy grail. @Key Elements that is perfect logic but what if you just cannot nail it down you will be in purgatory forever . Posted March 21, 2017 @Steph1988 Well, I wrote that comment based on my experience. My life purpose did get me my current job. I posted this info in another thread: I'm not at the end of my journey yet, but so far so good. You just have to realize what you love to do and go deep with it. Start small and work your way up. Posted March 21, 2017 (edited) Right now, SEX ! I need to be a fucking SEX GOD, because one way or another I'm gonna meet extremely hot girls and I'll have to interact with them. I just can't allow that to be a problem, It's not that I even want to be a sex god (If I'm honest, I don't even care about sex), it's just that I need to feel 99.99% uneedy. Yeah enlightenement blablabla, but this could take years/decades guys, that's not an option for the short term. The thing is that I'm demisexual, so, having sex with lots of different girls would be kind of awful to me, I need a stable relationship. So, in a sense, I have to master both Sex and Relationship. That's gonna be funny, weird, and funny, and challenging EDIT: Wow, it's hard as fuck to take a selfie, how do you do that girls, seriously EDIT*: Ok, that's the best I could get, too bad it's raining, apparently outside selfie are cool. Posted March 21, 2017 @Key Elements iv'e read it good job that is a clear example. actually a good question what do you tend to do in free time but the answer might not be something you are able to monetize within less then 10 years or at all. I notice myself for example endlessly researching all kinds of topics i guess i just want to know everything. @Shin hahaha you should totally do that forget the enlightenment for now that can come later. Posted March 21, 2017 (edited) @Steph1988 It may or may not take that long. Depends on how well you know startup, networking, and what you love. How well are you able to combine those. Book recommendation: Edited March 21, 2017 by Key Elements
