I won't use an apple unless they have the 'settings' and 'back' button together with home button.

But I do agree that apple is quick and sleek at times and its security is quite good for average folks.

Yeah universal back button is another irritation for me with apple. Android I can navigate back with the same muscle memory - Apple I have to search for back buttons located who-knows-where in apps

Apple’s desktops are trash and seems like they always will be

Their iPads are much better than android tablets

Macbooks have good battery life but are really only good in CPU intensive tasks (including programming), anything that requires a gpu you can pretty much forget. Even with ARM. Gaming sucks too.

Phones - It’s whatever, you can’t go wrong with any phone today

Normal AirPods offer nothing spacial compared to the competition. But Airpods Pro are much better at noise cancelling than any other earphone on the market

Airpods Max - Trash

Apple watch - Meh, accessory anyway

There, completely factual with 0 bias

Vision Pro prediction - Nothing special, it won’t receive mass adoption because of It’s price and at that point, how important and game changing can it truly be?

Apple makes products for rich people, however Steve was a very smart man. Apple kinda became what he criticized about other companies.

Lol just use what ever you want. They are all fine it depends on what you wanna accomplish. I am not a computers guy. I don't give a shit about gaming & stuff. The only thing I care about is can I make music with it and mac has me covered. New ones are very quiet which is indispensable for me. And there's just no headaches with it breaking and needing to replace parts. I have had my macbook for 10years now and only recently have I considered buying another one for more power when I am editing video or hundreds of audio tracks with heavy plugins. (A desktop this time. I can defenitely keep using the laptop for a few years).  I have had an Android phone as well for less than 5years. It's already toast.

Unfortunately Android is slowly but steadily following the trail Apple is setting. Replacable batteries, 3,5mm jack, unlockable bootloaders, microSD slots are fading away. All of these optionalities on top of the open-source system made Android shine up until like a decade ago. It seems to be a downhill since, especially from let's say 2017. Louis Rossmann has a few videos on the topic.

If you care about owning and controlling your device, best to buy an older android phone you can hack. If you prefer security and everything just 'working' in your service then go for Apple.

Why would you need custom software on your phone? They are filled with security holes. :S

Android is customizable. Every phone company has its own version of the software. That is why the security on those phones is as reliable as the titanic. No high profile person uses android for a reason.

If I buy an iPhone I can use it for 8-12 years in terms of software and security updates. For android that is 2-4 years.

Google Pixel seems to be pretty secure with its custom chips:

Apple hardware is fine for the most part. Their custom silicon on Mac is great. Software is restrictive, though. Android, Windows and Linux are much more open platforms.

About macOS, it isn't that good in terms of customization, window management, multitasking, gaming, etc. but I'm fine with that. It's stable, consistent and seamless.

But hey, Apple is called a walled garden for a reason. macOS likely doesn't spy on the user as much as Windows does.

Still, I'm keeping an eye on the Asahi Linux development.

I forgot to say:

Pro iPhone's have better video than Android phones, because you can shoot in ProRAW, a lossless codec for video. I haven't heard of any Android alternatives, especially not native ones by Samsung or Google.

That would be the only advantage IMO.

All that Privacy and security bullshit is just marketing, Edward Snowden never mentioned that MacOS or iOS are exempt from government spying.

Resell value, long-term software support, maybe increased security and privacy (due to its closed nature). Also, you get to own a device with the fancy apple logo :P

By spying I mean telemetry, which Microsoft does with Windows since it became free. Apple probably does it to some degree too but has less incentive to.

I use Android, btw.

I feel like apple trains you to be tech illiterate - this is my biggest gripe.

I'd rather have the power to break it myself, learn the system > fix it. I strongly dislike being beholden to anything.

Do you feel that car manufacturers are training you to be car mechanic illiterate?

Or would you prefer to break your car and fix it yourself?

None of them. Touchscreens suck. I hate how every modern device has a touchscreen, even cars and motorcycles. Real men use buttons and levers!

I liked the old Symbian phones with pixelared menu icons, Java games and shit. They were kind of slow though.
