These bad rulings, on top of the other ruling that ended affirmative action in college rulings, have resulted in a very sad week for many people in this country including many college students, a number of black and brown people, and some members of the LGBTQ+ members.

   Yeah, it's very sad when your reality bubble starts crumbling, and the external world reality checks your biases in place. real wake up call, and another example of transformational dilemma. Every change, and action will have an opposite reaction. an ego backlash, to maintain what's working, developmental factors all at play and all part of a more complex system and intelligence.

Yeah that's true. That's also why there must be and will be a profound liberal backlash to all of this right-wing authoritarianism happening in our country. It may not happen tomorrow or next year or in the next few years but IT WILL HAPPEN sometime in future......mark my words.

The affirmative action ruling doesn't seem so bad. At some point we have to stop considing people's race in hire decisions in order to have a truly colorblind society.

If you keep fixating on racism it does turn into a self-fulfilling prophecy after a time.

Nobody outside of, say, doctors and gov officials, should be compelled to complete work they do not want to do. Period. Their biases may impact their business, there is already a consequence.

Affirmative action is an absolute DISGRACE and should never have existed. Keep band-aiding black poverty for votes like the frauds that they are and nothing changes. The fix clearly is to support businesses in black areas, hearts and minds campaign with law enforcement to rebuild trust in black communities (law and order being seen as the enemy leads to idolization of gang culture), money to schools in black areas.

Empower black communities by providing jobs, education... Take the "reparations" billions and shove it into enriching these ghetto areas.

This is silly. You are not allowed to refuse to rent to black people or Jews. Nor are you allowed to refuse serving meals to Asians or Muslims. Nor are you allowed to refuse employment to gays or Hispanics. We have strict laws on the books for all these cases because without laws it becomes a big problem.

Imagine if I could refuse my videos to white Christians.

Should a gay baker be forced to make a cake for the Westboro Baptist Church? Should a Jew have to bake a cake for Hitler's birthday? Should a black web designer have to design a website for the Ku Klux Klan? Clearly not.

In other fields, refusal of service is illegal. A doctor HAS to treat a patient for example, even if the patient was Himmler.

This is how it should be.

And you should be allowed to refuse your videos to white Christians. Of course, it would be a terrible business decision since I notice a number of Christian leaning fans of your work.

There is an asymmetry in these cases you bring up. It's a difference of tolerance vs intolerance. Refusing to bake a cake for a gay couple is fundamentally intolerance. Refusing to bake a cake for Hitler is appropriate because Hitler is intolerant of others.

So the solution to all these cases is more tolerance and openmindedness and less intolerance and closedmindedness.

The reason white Christians keep having these kind of "gay wedding cake" issues is simply because they are intolerant and closedminded. That all. And then they want their closedmindedness codified into law. The only problem here is that Christians are stupidly closedminded and proud of it.

@Leo Gura They're allowed to be intolerant. The less people are COMPELLED into certain actions or speech the better. The more personal freedom we can possibly allow the better. Loss of business and public backlash is the balance for businesses practicing discrimination... Christians genuinely believe that these acts are a sin against God, it's what they believe. We still have existent the freedom to practice religion. As you know many delusions exist in religion.

You yourself ought to have freedom to banish every white person from this board or turn it into a black panther party website. This is your private property. The government should not step in and say you MUST offer your videos to whites else you face jail or whatever.

The way things are is about right.

Btw I'm a landlord and I get to pick my own tenants. If I refused every black person because they're black nobody would even know that's why unless I explicitly said so. Conversely, the council does not get to pick when renting out council houses.
