What are some good things to do in my free time?

7 posts in this topic

Going for walks, and listenign to music are good, but if I finish working on my business or finish working on personal development stuff at 5pm, but i'm not gonna listen to music or go for a walk for 7 hours until I go to bed.

What other things can I do to relax and recharge? Things that I can do each night, kind of like a hobby that allows me to relax and recharge?

When I think of things like introspecting, visualising, reading - these are all just acitivites that are still using my brain, i don't feel like they allow me to relax and recharge, they just feel like more of what i've been doing all day.

And things like gym and cooking, I do these things, but I don't really consider this my 'free time'.

thank you

Hmm a few things come to mind..

- Something creative that doesn't use analytical brain power, like light drawing and painting.

- Wood carving

- Meditating

- Singing

- Spending time with friends or coexisting around each other

- gardening or taking care of house plants

- stretching

- Chatting with ChatGPT

There are literally infinite options. Ask your intuition and then let it go and wait for what comes up

Self Actualization is living up to your potential.

What do YOU need to live up to your potential?

Nobody can answer that question but you. That is a good place to start. Preferably something creative.

I didn't see you mention social activities. That is an important part for most people whether they want to admit it or not.

Personally, I write, but to me that is not using my brain, but expressing myself. I enjoy coming up with ideas and exploring them. But we are not the same. I do martial arts.  Self-expression is recreational to me.

What you resist, persists and less of you exists. There is a part of you that never leaves. You are not in; you have never been. You know. You put it there and time stretches.

You could get into miniature painting. It is a solitary activity that is easy to pick up whenever you have time and let go off at any stage.

Unlike other hobbies like gaming, painting minis leave you with a finnished product, which is inherently more fulfilling. Miniatures also tend to hold their monetary value after you buy them, so you can always sell off your collection.

It is not as hard as it may look to paint at such a scale. It just doesn't. It is time consuming though. And expensive. But not as expensive as certain other hobbies, like cycling, hunting or anything that involves motorized vehicles.

@Basman those are really good. Another one could be model building. That needs focus and stop thinking
