AI indued nihilism & business hesitation

8 posts in this topic

I was about to leave this forum and ask to delte my account but I have one pressing question

I am trying to make it in the online business world and I'm trying & learning about many different things, willing to try anything as I just wasnt a decent income alongside being my own boss & don't care about anything else in life currently.

However I notice that : Marketing is the overarching skill that I can't ignore, and I currently making myself obsessed with it and looking at it from every possible angle.

I had good research and intellectual momentum with learning this stuff and working my way through the "learning funnel" from absorption and conceptual understanding to application and experimentation.

But AI just ruins my confidence and momentum because it's like.

"Should I learn copywriting also?" Is there any point or will AI just do all this very soon?

(I don't want to be a copywriter so my fundamental question is not whether AI replaces jobs but despite AI is it still worth it to learn and practice the different elements like copywriting and other business aspects in order to synthesize this into a cohesive form and apply it to building personal brands and selling my own products?)

Or ... is the only fucking thing I should be learning these days is "Prompt engineering" and getting AI to do everything?

I fucking hate AI, its overcomplicating everything too much.

AI is overhyped right now.

In the real business world the output of AI is still not that usable or great. AI is not just going to automagically solve  marketing or business. And no, it will not write your sales copy. For all this stuff to be great, it requires a human touch. At least for the near-term.

Learning to write sales copy is not that important, unless you got some specific need for it.

I never understood the emphasis given to copywriting anyway. It seems like one of the lowest priority things to learn for starting a good business.

If you're bad at it, it's been pretty common to pay someone small amounts of money to write copy for ages anyway, AI just lets you do that for free and a little bit of effort.

Marketing is not something AI can really do that well yet. The best marketing is super creative and taps into the human psyche in new and unique ways, AI can't really do that.

Why do you think copywriting is irrelevant to marketing and business?

To my basic knowledge copy writing is just persuasive writing and sales pitch, (whether written or spoken) ....

SURELY that is very important?

Rather than just "Hey buy my product, please?"

surely there is a spectrum of how good the sales pitch is and this is a significant factor in driving sales?

Have you thought that thought through?

Have you started a business?

And that's why I love learning about marketing currently. It's pretty exiting how creative it can get.

I didn't say it was irrelevant, I said it was low priority to learn yourself. I'm pretty sure most people without the language skill to write it themselves just pay others to write it for them.

A good product, a well-designed UI, a visually appealing sales site, and a well selected target demographic are much more important to have and also more difficult. The copy kind of comes naturally if you have these things.

There's a reason get-rich-quick systems like Tate's hustler university recommend copywriting to people which is that pretty much anyone who speaks decent English and isn't an idiot can do it to at least an average level.

The people who prioritise sales copy above everything else are usually trying to sell something shitty. If you have a good product, the copy literally just concisely describes what problem your product solves and for who, and then you're done.

The hardest part is making sure your copy gets identified by Google as something people are searching for. But again there are more important things for SEO like backlinks.
