It is shocking how bad Zelda's graphics are. The gameplay is great. The graphics are disgusting.

@Leo Gura I’m playing it on Switch. Frame rate drop is the main issue for me; it’s definitely distracting.  I have no issue with the graphics, although that probably has to do with the fact that I’ve never experienced a video game in 4K 60 FPS HDR.

I think you’re exaggerating about the graphics, is just a self shaded style, not big deal. Also this was meant for the Wii U not Switch, this is why Tears of the Kingdom looks a bit better.

Regular Switch or OLED?

@Juan Regular Switch. Although, I play it docked on a Sony 4K 75” TV. I can’t imagine how much better the game would look in native 4K 60 FPS HDR Dolby Vision super duper eyegasm mode.

They are slowly moving games towards being more Openly Creative, im sure once AI gets involved in automatically generating games in real time as you play them we will see a bunch of new genres, like a game that can reward creativity equally to strategic play in balance. The zelda games are great I just wish they made it more challenging and rewarded creativity more.

Ok, I understand the OLED version is a lot better than the regular Switch, the colors pop out more, better contrast, bigger screen, etc. Still I’ll wait for next year for possible new hardware.

Breath of the Wild has a DLC which includes Master Mode. From what I’ve heard it’s brutal and no joke.

I’m sure Tears of the Kingdom will have a similar mode in the future.

That’s definitely perfect for people who travel frequently.

Tears of the Kingdom seems to have a lot of this according to reviews.

@Yimpa would be funny if Leo was actually mistakenly playing Skyward Sword. xD That was for sure a “watercolor” mud mess imo.

You gotta give it credit to Nintendo, they are open to experiment with the art style of their mascots. From realistic to cartoon to anime now, to chibi, etc.

Haha I’m exaggerating. It’s a shot from the game but once you have on hands is alright/acceptable. Same happens with their previous releases like Twilight Princess, Wind Waker, etc. But yea here they tried a watercolor style which idk it was convincing enough for me. It is also the most linear gameplay and story Zelda.

Yeah, the game is laggy on my PC too. It's annoying. Like running through molasses.

The graphics are bad even for a 1080p 30 FPS game. It's not even 1080, it's like 720.

But what really kills it is the color grading. It's so bad. Like it was color graded by a retarded child.

A lot of great game design though.

Zelda is like a delicious cupcake that looks like a poop emoji. It's like Nintendo saw Bethesda's outdated game engine and said: Hold my beer.

@Leo Gura Yeah you are on point.

I love the very dark realistic but also beautiful old zelda ocarina of time grafic and the more psychedelic looking majoras Mask.

Then Wind waker came out, I was total disappointed first but then understood how well it fits. That was pure eye candy

Zelda skyward sword as well as breath of the wild and this sequence now are in between these two. I dont like it personally, it's colour grading is not good at all and it takes the seriousness and darkness out of the game

You have Twilight Princess, prob the darkest and realistic Zelda.

This new Zelda has some literally darkness but I won’t spoil it.

@Juan twilight princess Was dark yes, I forgot. But it was not an epic game.

It was not epic because the landscape was not good interconnected. Not believable, no immersion. The landscape was also empty and soulless, so the whole game was just a normal game, nothing magical. Also I remember sidequeses were meaningless. Just rubin or heart upgrate when you finish, this was always the same. So boring

But the Trailer was great

Thought this was a cool insight into the logic of game design
