Which class subjects will stay after AI in a couple of years

1 post in this topic

I study to become a teacher atm in math and philosophy.

I dislike math but my thought process was that because math teachers are rare this gives me a strong basis of negotiation to teach a lot of philosophy which I would like to do . I also thought about doing another social job with my diploma and because I am already in sixth semester keeping math would be the fastest way to do so.

But much of this are lame excuses built around fear of quitting.

I feel like I haven't given math enough of a chance yet a bit because I kinda half assed myself through the semesters with bad grades and with private lesson support and so on but maybe if I took it more seriously I would like it..

Anyway What I thought about recently is that maybe math won't be as important in the future thanks to AI. In general the whole school system would need to adapt because school doesn't teach free thinking but that's the only thing humans have over AI. All the mindless learning by rote produces humans that can easily be replaced by AI.

And the only reason I would ever study math is to become a teacher. I don't see how math would have any really meaningful value for me in my personal life. And I think math will have less of a meaning for most people in the future because the average person won't need good math skills because that's easy for AI I think. So it's hard to justify the hassle to do math atm.

Other subjects that I find interesting are theatre, sports, social studies. This are subjects which normally aren't that attractive for a teacher but maybe with AI developing more I could imagine them becoming more important because when AI makes society more wealthy society could evolve into more free time orientation or more playfulness and creativity which is where I think brilliance and intelligence is created which is important for commanding AI.
