Hinduism declares: We have entered the era of AI

18 posts in this topic

Watching the entire live event is recommended to fully understand the significance of the statements being made, but for convenience, here are the highlights. It is important to consider the context of the Vedic New Year and be aware of any potential biases resulting from a Western perspective in order to fully appreciate the importance of these statements.

For the Vedic new year, the Supreme Pontiff of Hinduism (SPH) has made several claims regarding AI and superintelligence, including the following (some have been rephrased for clarity and context while retaining the original message):

Quote

Whether you make it as good or bad, AI and superintelligence is going to take over the world, is going to take over all the external world needs, wants, everything...

Quote

We don't need to feel threatened by Artificial intelligence or Superior Intelligence, we need to embrace it, even more we need to contribute to it.

The SPH has advised the one billion Hindus around the world to invest in and actively contribute to the development of this technology.

Quote

In the future, all religions, systems, and educational models will need to withstand the scrutiny of AI. Hinduism is not only capable of withstanding such scrutiny but also holds valuable insights for the development of AI technology.

He believes that the ancient Hindu tradition and classical scriptures can inspire the development of better AI models to serve humanity. As the only surviving civilization from the Bronze Age, he sees Hinduism as still relevant and useful for modern-day people. He envisions the combination of AI and Hinduism as a great service for mankind.

Quote

Artificial intelligence has the potential to liberate humanity from the constraints of survival mode, survival education, and survival jobs by addressing our basic needs. Humanity is going through an identity crisis with Artificial Intelligence and Super intelligence and needs to find its true identity as Super Consciousness.

He also said that this year (one year from now) AI wil dramatically change our lives. He says that he feels relieved by this technology and that finally now humanity can focus in the real inner work.

Quote

Last statement of the live, to be contemplated this Vedic Year:

Let's make this whole year auspicious by giving super conscious breakthrough to ourselves, discovering our true identity, true purpose, and not feeling competition or threatened by AI and superintelligence. They are complementing humanity, not competing with humanity. Let AI take over the external world and all mundane affairs, let humanity focus in the inner world and manifest super conscious breakthrough, super conscious powers and super conscious knowledge, there is much to be done in this field that only human beings can do.

God-Realize, this is First Business. Know that unless I live properly, this is not possible.

There is this body, I should know the requirements of my body. This is first duty. We have obligations towards others, loved ones, family, society, etc. Without material wealth we cannot do these things, for that a professional duty.

There is Mind; mind is tricky. Its higher nature should be nurtured, then Mind becomes Virtuous and Conscious. When all Duties are continuously fulfilled, then life becomes steady. In this steady life God is available; via 5-MeO-DMT, ... Living in Self-Love, Realizing I am Infinity & I am God

Summary of the live:

I'm surprised of how little attention this post had in comparison with the importance of what is being said.

AI will be a good competitor that will weed out all the NPCs. They simply cannot compete. Spiritual or at least mindful will not be threatened. They might have to go back in spiral dynamics tho. Not going to be a lot of fun.

@Davino He's clothed like a charlatan, talks like a charlatan, smiles like a charlatan, has the body language of a charlatan, setting is like a charlatan, everything about him screams charlatan. I don't believe a single word which that fraudster says.

I can understand and empathize with those statements, but here I'd tone down the accusational writting here. One, we ultimately still don't know fully about astronomy and what magical natures it has, and astronomy has been used widely atound the world in different cultures, for 100,000 plus years of human civilisation, and yet it can still somehow predict predispositions of a person or group, sometimes with accuracy I can't explain. I think it's better to be cautious and conservative minded here, but refrain from accusing him of being a Fraud first and be ip3en minded.

Because of the differences in Spiral Dynamics stages of development, cognitive and moral development, personality typing, states of consciousness, life experiences and other lines of development and ideological indoctrination, as well as modern day scientific/rational and atheist beliefs and biases this will be interpreted in different ways, and I think that most with this bias won't be open minded and may even be dogmatic to responding to these claims. For me, it's likely he's right, but the details of the journey towards humanity bettering itself with AI and AGI is murky and still a bumpy ride.

Astronomy and Tarot cards are sometimes fun to do, even good contemplation exercises.

I'd say that we do know about astronomy, we know that it's bs. I haven't seen anything which indicates that astronomy works, and science hasn't either.

How do you know astronomy is BS? Did you try it? How did you determine it's BS? Who/what group has authority to say astronomy is BS?

Irrelevant character assassination. Just because he's of questionable character doesn't justify saying that Astronomy is BS.

The main point of the post is not related to this, but it is astonishing how widespread ignorance is and how easily people accept what they are told without investigating it further. It is important to understand Nithyananda's background to have a proper context for the discussion.

If you took just 5 minutes to search, you would find that he is recognized throughout India, from the north to the south, and is the leader of temples and lineages across the entire Indian subcontinent. Nothing even close to this level of recognition has happened in the history of India. It's absurd to believe everything you're told without doing any real investigation into the topic. This goes against the principles of this forum and still baffles me to this day.

So, you read a news article and saw him wearing gold, and suddenly you think you know the truth? Please don't trust me, and dare to do your own research to uncover the background of this person beyond hearsay. Even the United Nations and UNESCO have recognized that he was unfairly attacked by the media for political interests. But you didn't bother searching for that either.

Personally, I don't really care about Nithyananda, but I do care about the truth. It amazes me how easily manipulated people can be.

The point of this post is that hindus arround the world have elite positions in many companies and now they will invest and fuel up the deployment of AI.

I agree, it's a good point. Shame some people here misinterpret, maybe intentionally just for trolling and such. Also, astronomy is a thing whether you or someone else thinks, at least there's potential benefit to contemplating your life through the cards or some astronomy practice, at least it gets you thinking a bit more about life.

And thanks to this one person there'll be more collective interest in developing AI systems faster.

@Davino I haven't read a single negative article about that guy. My assessment of people is completely independent.

So just because he is popular in India, and in Hinduism, is a influential person in spirituality, has wrote books, etc., you think that he's a awesome guy who knows the truth?

Looks like you are unable to make independent assessments of people.

That's one assumption. Another would be that because he's popular he has more sway, optics, persuasion and is able to convince others to take the AI and AGI development seriously.

@Davino  Sarah Stephanie Landry, formerly Sarupapriya, was Nithyananda's media hype person for around 5 years before leaving his ashram and whistleblowing.

okay, maybe she's lying. but regardless, guru worship is silly.

There was a time when I wanted to join his ashram. I wanted to learn how to see through my third eye and crack coconuts with my mind.
