Why don’t liberals want a border wall?

There is no wall in much of the southern border…. And many people who aren’t supposed to pass through are coming through.  Common sense says there should be a wall there. Why shouldn’t we build one?

   I think it's now a politicized issue, and even before that it's probably expensive to build a properly defensible wall from one side to the other side spanning the length of north Mexico and southern USA states. USA too invested spending on the military complex, prison system and other social things.

Walls are too expensive. It would be easier to use some kind of heat mapping imaging, lidar or something along those lines

   Or they could see what North Korea has done, see that AI gun robot, and start placing non-lethal robots like that, you know, shoot rubber bullets into those trying to smuggle drugs and people illegally. Mile per mile a robot is watching.

Better relations between countries, eradicating poverty, better tracking of criminal activity, preventing exploitation of immigrants without documentation, worldwide coalition on controlling movement and immigration. This needs meta perspective and many iterations of work in the department of foreign affairs till a system is developed that effectively controls the problem. You cannot completely eliminate the problem since the problem itself is a symptom of a bigger crisis so the viable solution is to see what improvements can be made on a meta level.

Y’all don’t think a wall and other measures would discourage at least some of the countlesss illegals trying to cross? It would stop those with children at the very least which would probably end up being millions.. right?

@John Paul why would it discourage people with children. The way I see it, families with children are more encouraged than ever to keep their children safe from violence.

I literally saw a video on twitter today of 2 men climbing over a US wall and back. AND BACK! it took them less than 30 seconds. 

A lot of people scam their way through, especially into the US. You can apply for Asylum from anywhere in the world, even if you're from a safe European country. (and you can actually get it that way)

   That is crazy to think it's that easy. The USA probably needs to reevaluate and move it's border issue a bit higher on the priority list.

   It be a deterrent in theory, but again, I'd rather use non-lethal robots that fire rubber bullets along the southern border, mile by mile, if I want to be cheap on building a wall and later improve on the wall building.

   Also, better systems in handling immigrants and how to sort them out much better, for the ones that managed to get in illegally.
