Things happen against my will in dreams - what does it mean?

4 posts in this topic

Almost always when I experience a dream, things in it happens against my will. For example when I was a kid I clearly remember a dream when I was Lightning McQeen racing on the track and I just wanted to ride, but there were these nasty earthquake that were appearing "intentionally" to disallow me racing normally.

Now I often experience dreams when I meet some girls, wanting to have sex with them, but they often escape and I fail to have sex with them. Sometimes I do, but more often girls vanish or some circumstances disallow me to have sex with a girl.

I wonder whether if I change how my dreams are my reality will also change?

Maybe I'm just need to hold in consciousness this limiting belief that "universe is against me" and thus make it disappear

Cause basically the dreams are just a reflection of my reality.

@EugeneTheSage I tend to treat dreams as metaphors for my unconscious dynamics.

Perhaps these dreams are illustrative of a powerlessness you feel in your life towards achieving some of your material ambitions.

The dreams could be a sign that you are unable to achieve the things you want and this dissatisfaction is being reflected in your dreams.

Don't be too attached to what you want. Being overly attached is actually what drives away things.

Set an intention to attract things by law of attraction by positively reinforcing the belief that you deserve those things.

Once that is done, don't constantly think or worry about what you don't have.

The dream is a signal that you overthink.

Overthinking/overattachment is like holding sand in your hands, the more tightly you will hold, the more it keeps slipping away.

The more you are attached to something the less likely it will come to you.

Let go and remain detached.

Don't overpossess. That way you push away the very things you wanted.

@EugeneTheSage I try and practise dream control, or dream affirmations. Before I fall asleep, I talk to the dream part of me. I literally address it directly: "Dream part. Are you there? Yes. I want my dream characters to be interested in me and to go on adventures with them tonight. Is that a deal? Yes..."

If you ask for the same things every night, eventually it starts working. My dream characters are a lot more pleasant and approachable nowadays, some of them are even too nosey.

Another thing you can do, is review your dreams and every time you had an unpleasant or annoying situation, picture a bid red cross slapped over it. This gives the "dream part" feedback that you don't want that again. For example, I had a lot of dreams of unpleasant toilet scenes and these have stopped now.

I guess it's the dream version of affirmations.
