Now a bloomer quote

No but serious replies. You have all these "I FUCKING LOVE SCIENCE" people. But the moment you mention that "the science" may be pushed for corporate interests and profit maximization to push certain agendas only certain people get funding etc... They all shove their fingers in their ears. Boomers are ironically the worst for this being raised in front of TV screens and still the majority of people who watch TV and mainstream news like Fox, CNN etc...

@bloomer I get you. I mean the term "money" is a reduction in it self. Money is boardly an  epistemological warfare.

Science doesn't follow money. It already captured the money. Whole military industrial complex(and many other foundations)  backed by cental bank which is unseparable from science. So science got us by the balls.

PS. "I FUCKING LOVE SCIENCE but not theirs"

Sciences is mostly survival oriented like everything else. Somebody has to fund advancement of mankind and if the goverment underfund it then they have to turn towards somebody else. The way science is done is to research in areas which can create huge value for people. But on the other side this is clearly problematic because most people don't value fairness and sustainability or only to a certain extend.

@Sucuk Ekmek

Yeah you've put it better than Max lol. What the mainstream deems to be science is inextricably linked all those other foundations so it shouldn't just be blindly followed.

@Starlight321

My point was more about what governments fund research wise is obviously power and profit driven. So a healthy degree of skepticism should be required before just believing what the mainstream feeds you. But you made a good point about sustainability.

Amazing read here

I'm curious to read your opinions guys as to why "disruptive" science aka that which really makes it's impact in the scientific field has declined so much.

Quote

The number of science and technology research papers published has skyrocketed over the past few decades — but the ‘disruptiveness’ of those papers has dropped, according to an analysis of how radically papers depart from the previous literature.

Data from millions of manuscripts show that, compared with the mid-twentieth century, research done in the 2000s was much more likely to incrementally push science forward than to veer off in a new direction and render previous work obsolete. Analysis of patents from 1976 to 2010 showed the same trend.

“The data suggest something is changing,” says Russell Funk, a sociologist at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and a co-author of the analysis, which was published on 4 January in Nature. “You don’t have quite the same intensity of breakthrough discoveries you once had.”
