Feet numbness during meditation

6 posts in this topic

Hey guys,

Because of inconsistency, last year I haven't really benefited from my meditations, I was skipping too many days. As the new year resolution I'm commited to stick to my habit no matter what.

But I experience feet numbness after like 20 minutes, basically I can't feel my legs any more. I freaked out and stopped at 25-30 minute mark, even though I was going for 60 minutes.

I kinda know that it's common and not really something to be concerned about, but still, do you guys experience that as well?

And does the condition improve after lots of practice?

What position do you sit in? If cross-legged then that's most likely the cause. Try to experiment with your posture, try a zafu or meditation bench or a chair. It won't change with practice since you press on a nerve (this one most likely).

This is pretty common for people.

Have you tried just using a chair rather than cross-legged?

@IDressMyDog Yeah I sit crossed legged. I use meditation cushion for a bit of an elevation.

Try experimenting with different postures.

I imagine you might have tight hamstrings (but I might be wrong here), how's your mobility? Simple 20 min yoga or some Tibetan rites could help you, or even deep squats. It's a process that takes some time - better sooner than later though!

You could always do sleep meditation.

You are a selfless LACK OF APPEARANCE, that CONSTRUCTS AN APPEARANCE. But that appearance can disappear and reappear and we call that change, we call it time, we call it space, we call it distance, we call distinctness, we call it other. But notice...this appearance, is a SELF. A SELF IS A CONSTRUCTION!!!

So if you want to know the TRUTH OF THE CONSTRUCTION. Just deconstruct the construction!!!! No point in playing these mind games!!! No point in creating needless complexity!!! The truth of what you are is a BLANK!!!! A selfless awareness....then that means there is NO OTHER, and everything you have ever perceived was JUST AN APPEARANCE, A MIRAGE, AN ILLUSION, IMAGINARY.

Everything that appears....appears out of a lack of appearance/void/no-thing, non-sense (can't be sensed because there is nothing to sense). That is what you are, and what arises...is made of that. So nonexistence, arises/creates existence. And thus everything is solved.
